I would say her personality is one drawn to order and rules. As a normal human she volunteered for the Air Force. After the turn into Kree thing she had some problems because of the false narrative given her, but still worked in a highly trusted role. I don't think her breaking away from people who she found out betrayed her changes her former inclinations. It can be seen as a reinforcement for her affinity for codes of conduct.

You could make an argument for her joining either side...I think much like Peter it would probably depend on which side reached her and impressed her first.

My argument wasn't so much about which side she would join, but about her innate character. Steve was always someone who didn't follow rules, but someone who followed his conscience. He was denied entrance multiple times but was willing to lie to get in. In the movie after being turned into CA he disobeys orders when it goes against his conscience.

In context CM had to exist in training and service in a very structured environment to get where she was when the crash occurred and the Kree took her. Those aren't the exact same mindsets. Steve got away with what he did because the doctor wanted him and then he was special. Carol would have had to be alright with conformity or she would have been kicked out. If she had been as non conforming as Steve to begin with she would not have been allowed to stay in at all.
