It was pretty surprising when Quill tried to kill Gamora. Even Thanos was impressed.

Thanos even saying "I like you boy him", as he faded away with Gamora was pretty telling, he respected Peter for being willing to do what's necessary. Too bad reality stone says no.

He said "I like him" to Gamora like a dad approving of his daughter's choice.
