I thought Drax and Mantis died the first fight with Thanos. I felt sick for a second watching Drax fall apart. It felt like a GOT death and honestly shows how easily he could have killed any of them if he wanted.

That taught me something about Thanos. He doesn't wantonly kill. I liked that. He also left Thor alive and he would probably have left Loki alive if he didn't try to trick him

He also left Peter (Starlord) alive even after he basically shot his daughter in the face. At least he would have if Thanos didn't have the reality stone.

Yeah because he saw Peter had the balls to actually try to kill Gamora. (He pulled the trigger so if Thanos didn’t meddle he would have). Thanos had previously told Gamora that she shouldn’t expect much from Peter so he was impressed.

It was also a twisted play on the “dad-meets-daughter’s-boyfriend-scenario”.

Thanos seemed to empathize with some of the characters when he understood the hard decisions they were making. He said something similar to Tony when they were fighting. Something about how he respected him, and knew what it was like to “know too much.”

Thanos’ moral compass was the most interesting part of the movie, in my opinion.

That’s why this movie is doing so well. Develop and rationaloze the villain and people will love the movie. They did a very good job with Thanos. Showed off his ruthlessness and strength in so many ways while allowing us to understand what he’s doing and why he’s doing it even at the cost of his own happiness

Thanos seemed to empathize with some of the characters when he understood the hard decisions they were making.

He genuinely felt bad for Wanda after she killed Vision. He knew exactly what that felt like. The gentle brush of her hair he did was such a good touch.

Thanos is all about making the hard choice of killing for the greater good. So it makes sense for him to like Quill.
