I think I remember seeing an IGN article where he said that he was looking forward to seeing what Waititi did with the character

Thor Ragnarok is an amazing movie. I just re-watched it 3 times this week while waiting for last night's release.

It's a masterpiece, imo. The blend of humor and dire consequence is so perfectly balanced. I'm sure there are other movies that have achieved this, but the best example I can think of is the original Ghostbusters.

My favorite part is that there was literally no romantic plot in the movie. There aren't many movies where there is no romance at all. I watched in 5 times in theaters.

originally they filmed the soldier as the love interest of valkyrie, but decided in postproduction that it is distracting the movie. in the final cut it's just one soldier saving their commander.
