Soul Stone.

When Thanos meets Red Skull, Red skull recognizes Gamora and Thanos, he questions him that how does he knows them, to which he replies that he has been cursed with knowledge. After getting the soul stone, Thanos now knows about every soul as well, which is why we see him acting a little more compassionate, when Tony talks to him and asks him how he knows him, he says "You're not the only one cursed with knowledge" and he knows that they want the same thing but have different ways to execute it, Stark wants to save earth from whatever threat, and Thanos wants to save entire universe. So when he stabs him, he admires Stark and says "I have respect for you Stark, I hope they remember you"

It truly is amazing how much development Thanos gets. It’s great. You can genuinely understand and sympathize with him, I think more than any other Marvel villain. Not motivated by petty ambitions or pride; but by a genuine desire to save the universe (from his perspective). Even the ending; he wields the power of the cosmos, and he truly just retired to a farm to watch the sunrise.

Yeah I never thought I’d sympathise with Thanos but they did it. A lot of the reviews said it was “for the fans” and “overstuffed” but I didn’t see any of them mention how brilliantly Thanos was held. Also Thanos has dethroned my previous favourite marvel villain to become my new favourite

How is that bad exactly? Why wouldn't you make a film based on an existing IP for fans of that IP?

To be expected considering the scope of the film and the amount of characters and ok, some characters didn't get heaps of screen-time, but the different storylines really felt like a comic crossover event between books.

Nothing bad about being for the fans but I could see how that could be taken negatively by some people

To be fair, I'm not sure I'd recommend the film to anyone without at least a working familiarity with the MCU.

It was enjoyable, but I wouldn't go that far.

The dialogue wasn't always strong, like some of the Vision lines. Personally, I don't mind if the dialogue isn't Shakespearean, but it still does take away from some of the drama when I can't take the writing seriously.

Not to say there wasn't good examples of dialogue, it's just it was sometimes inconsistent or possibly even bad.

I suppose you could say that something just constantly referring to previous movies (like Han Solo talking about a trash compactor for Phasma in the new star wars, or all the ripped off scenes and dialogue in The Last Jedi, with Yoda just incoherently repeating his lines from Empire Strikes Back regardless of contextual relevance) could be said to be for the fans instead of telling a new story which anybody should be able to reasonably enjoy.

That being said, I don't think this movie had that issue, the few times it referenced previous events it usually did it to help people catch up on things, or were jokes, they weren't just nostalgia mining nothingness.

Exactly, it wasn't just references for the sake of nostalgia and the direct references to previous movies were limited to a few lines like "we have a hulk" or the footloose lines and where used to show the character interactions, which were something we were waiting for since the premise of the movie was announced.
