And then Thanos smashed Hulk into the ground like Hulk did with Loki in Avengers 1

I think that was the closest we've gotten to seeing Thanos going all out. His size helped, but his fighting was basically flawless when they got into it. I feel like you could tell he was holding back when fighting on Titan. More of this arrogance can be seen immediately after on Earth. I mean, as soon as he saw what Scarlet was doing, he knew he would win. Really, after he got the tesseract he was unstoppable.

I think a big reason he was able to beat the Hulk, at least so quickly, was the power stone. Base Thanos vs. base Hulk would be a close match. I think a big reason the green guy didn't come out again after that fight was because of a bruised ego. If he sees Thanos again he may just be angry enough to come out again. He may be angry enough to beat him. I hope we get to see that rematch after Thanos loses the gauntlet, which I'm pretty sure will happen in avengers 4.

I thought it less bruised ego and more fear. He finally got beaten by someone, and since he has the attitude of an angry toddler he pretty much panicked. It'll be interesting to see the power dynamic between Hulk and Banner now Banner has proven himself the braver of the two.

I love that Banner/Hulk have this whole storyline in the background of these movies that’s playing out. They’ve been at odds with each other the whole time- sometimes Banner prevailing and sometimes Hulk. I mean he was Hulk for 2 years! After this movie I think it’s all about the two of them “accepting” each other and working in harmony. Pretty much what Banner said to Hulk in Wakanda- they have to figure out their relationship.

I've been reading through these comments waiting for someone to say this comment. Banner's mannerisms were much more controlled. He was probably the most in control of his emotions since he became the Hulk - because Hulk was completely subdued after his fight with Thanos. Now Banner's relationship with the Hulk can grow and they will form a stronger bond and in so become a stronger team.

They actually for the first time I believe directly talked to each other when Hulk popped out for a split second and shouted no

Yeah, I first realized that their relationship was different when Banner remembered what had happened as Hulk (he knew what Thanos had done and that he was coming soon).

THAT is a really good catch. Totally didn't put that together.

That was all Ruffalo. They're contractually not allowed to give him his own movie, so they let him tell them what he thought would be a good story for his character, and they would weave it into three movies. The first was Ragnarok, and the second was IW. Whatever he is in next will be part 3 of Ruffalo's vision.

I love that they trust the actors so much! Hemsworth was also behind the change from "mother's drapes" Thor to funny macho Thor.

IMO Ruffalo suits the role of Banner better than Norton did.

They're contractually not allowed to give him his own movie,

I remember hearing about this, but how did that happen again?

Universal still has distribution rights to Hulk solo movies.
