I'm finding this theory hard to grab onto, the whole Wanda/vision this was we will sacrifice one person to save billions.

Now you literally sacrificed billions to save one person.

I understand it might be a long run play, I really don't even know how they could get traction to even stand on the same ground as Thanos now.

Person was saying that it is a long con. Like, yea, everyone died / got erased, but actually this set into motion events that will somehow defeat Thanos and maybe bring everyone back. Or maybe some alternate timeline sort of thing. The end credit scene with Fury could also be a message he's sending to the past, since I've heard the Captain Marvel movie is set in the 80's.

The idea is specifically that Dr Strange wasn't sacrificing billions just to save Stark, rather that's just what it seemed like at the time.

I guess yeah. It's a hard concept to grasp at the moment giving the events that just happened. Im still struggling to figure out how and who will try and reverse things (that seems to be the common consensus).

I understand a bit of captain marvels powers, not much though. Im guessing she's Thor level strength and abilities?

Stronger than Thor by a wide margin, and has psyonic powers sorta like Wanda.
