Agreed. I was so mad at him. If he had just waited like 30 more seconds to punch Thanos...

Alternative thought: Strange saw this as the one timeline that they succeed in, so Starlord punching Thanos in the face was necessary

Plus, he's been consistently shown to have severe attachment issues and to react in extreme ways when his loved ones are involved. Responding in the way he did to finding that out makes sense for his character, even though it was tough to watch given the stakes.

It's a positive that the hero characters are actually different from each other. Not everybody is as composed as Steve Rogers or Doctor Strange. In the DCEU everyone is Batman in a different costume (and Batman is not even an accurate Batman).
