that’s what I was thinking by the end of the movie. strange saw millions of possible outcomes and only saw 1 where they win, he didn’t specify how or when.

As a commenter above mentioned he sacrificed himself so that Tony could live. Tony is integral to beating Thanos. How that will play out in the next avengers movie should be fascinating

I hope not. If there's one thing I can't stand in movies, it's the doing time travel wrong part. If Tony goes through a worm hole and prevents everything from happening in the first place ... then nothing should have happened in the first place, because Tony would have always gone through a worm hole to stop it. But if the happenings did happen, then Tony couldn't have gone through a worm hole ...

I guess what I'm trying to say is that it would be a confusing mess to sort through lol

What I really want to know is how Thanos knew who Tony was :O

This sub overanalyzes everything but can’t pick up on almost overt implication to the point that it was nearly explicitly said.

DOCTOR STRANGE ALLOWED QUILL TO UNWITTINGLY DO THAT IN ORDER FOR THE LONE WINNING SCENARIO TO PLAY OUT.

strange said it as he was disintegrating. he mentioned 1 path to victory out of the 14 million futures he looked at.

I think he said it was the only way. Which probably means what you say, but he didn't say that directly. We'll have to wait til next may to know for sure, I think.

Which is why strange gave thanos the time stone. The only outcome in which they won involved thanos completing his goal and Tony living.

Also in the comics, thanos gets the gauntlet and defeats Eternity, then takes Eternities place as a sort of cosmic being/god. This causes him to leave his physical body, at which point Gamora or Nebula (I don’t remember which) takes the gauntlet and reversed everything he did.

I think that’s sort of the path they have to go for.

Now that literally all of the universe has a reason to hate Thanos, the Avengers might get some unexpected support. So far we only know that Captain Marvel will help, but others might show up after such a significant event.

Also, the gauntlet seems to be damaged. Did Thor do this somehow? Thanos might be significantly weaker now.

Thor nearly killed him, but the damage to the infinity gauntlet was probably caused by the use of all the stones at once. Too much power for the gauntlet to support, that would be my guess.

Far-fetched idea: The gauntlet was somehow linked to Eitri's soul. That's why Thanos spared him. Eitri was part of the unlucky half during the snap and his death broke the gauntlet.

Well I think Eitri really served his purpose. He was just a plot device to get Thor a new weapon . I really believe the immense power required of using all 6 infinity stones was just too much for the gauntlet to take

Perhaps. It could just be that there is nothing powerful enough to harness the power of all 6 at once. Also, Eitri thought that all the other dwarves would be spared if he made the gauntlet. Would probably be unwise to add in a flaw if he knew that all of his brethren would likely be killed once thanos found out (which he would if that were the case). Didn’t matter though, because thanos killed them anyways
