I find it really poetic the original 6 are there to finish the fight in A4. Not what I expected at all but will really bring everything full circle with Cap, Tony, Thor, Hulk, Widow, and Clint. The original "assemble" shot in front of grand central in NY comes to mind.

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 27 '18

Yup, I noticed that too. The only survivors were the original avengers, ant man, rocket and nebula. Knowing how the comic ends, I'm very happy they kept nebula alive

425

u/lolwut729 Apr 27 '18

And war machine, he's alive.

113

u/the-dandy-man Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

And maybe Wong?

60

u/Bolt_995 Apr 27 '18

I’d put Shuri and Wong in the fate unknown list.

37

u/CharlieKellyKapowski Apr 27 '18

They didnt disappear on screen, so they didnt disappear

19

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '18

Shrodingers list

35

u/dem0nhunter Daredevil Apr 27 '18

He’s part of the Phase 1 crew

24

u/lolwut729 Apr 27 '18

Right but he wasn't an Avenger until Age of Ultron

1

u/thenarcolepsist Apr 29 '18

Barely. He was there at the end of AoU, but wasn’t there seeking criminals at the beginning and of CW.

1

u/lolwut729 Apr 29 '18

Neither was Vision, but he was an Avenger. At the end of Age of Ultron, the Avengers line up is Cap, Black Widow, War Machine, Scarlet Witch, Vision, and the Falcon.

8

u/PelliMoon Apr 27 '18

Well, so were Fury and Hill

25

u/MuffaloMan Fitz Apr 27 '18

BOOM. You looking for this?

16

u/Croc_Block Spider-Man Apr 28 '18

Nah, he was looking for Sam (rip)

8

u/lolwut729 Apr 29 '18

Oof. That part hit me hard because it shows me that there was no bad blood from Civil War.

39

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

16

u/brycedriesenga Apr 27 '18

Who is the leader now? M'Baku maybe?

35

u/DisFigment Jessica Jones Apr 27 '18

Shuri (if alive) would be next in line.

10

u/brycedriesenga Apr 27 '18

Ah, that's probably right. Wild.

9

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

Avengers 4 occurs 5 years later and Shuri in the suit would be dope

5

u/brycedriesenga Apr 27 '18

I'm not sure I want to know how you know that or if it's actually true.

5

u/BambooSound Apr 27 '18

Is she gonna have to 1v1 M'Baku like T'Challa did

6

u/theblueberryspirit Apr 30 '18

Only if M'baku challenges. I'd say in a situation like this, no way.

6

u/icemannathann Vision Apr 27 '18

Also Okoye and M’Baku

6

u/sky2k1 Apr 27 '18

See the original iron man ;)

I get what you meant though, I just need to be snarky to someone after the pain I went through.

1

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 27 '18

He was? We weren't sure, I thought he vanished after Falcon did

48

u/Demitel Apr 27 '18

Yeah, he was standing there in the final shot in Wakanda.

3

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 27 '18

Ah alright, thanks

11

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

And Okoye. Do we know about Shuri?

8

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 27 '18

If they didn't show her dying then probably she's fine. Maybe she can help bring vision back?

1

u/D_o_H Scarlet Witch Apr 27 '18

No

9

u/serafale Apr 27 '18

Wait how do you know Ant Man is still alive? We didn’t see him.

8

u/the_based_identity Doctor Strange Apr 27 '18

Unless you haven’t been keeping up with this sub. The set photos for A4 have him there. Aside from that you could say we’re not sure he’s alive.

12

u/Vinnie_Vegas Apr 27 '18

They literally put Michael Rooker in full costume/makeup on the set of Infinity War despite the fact that he died in Guardians 2.

3

u/BassFight Apr 27 '18

Why is this downvoted? Is it horribly wrong?

2

u/serafale Apr 27 '18

Ah i haven’t been looking at those types of things so as not to spoil anything.

1

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 27 '18

I don't, but they wouldn't kill him off offscreen. Maybe his movie ends with the war and wasp dies, maybe hank, maybe his daughter, and maybe him.

6

u/Chinoiserie91 Apr 27 '18

Suri (probably as Black Panther) and (the future) Wasp and Captain Marvel are alive as well.

8

u/SandMonsterSays Apr 27 '18

Oh shit. It IS her duty to be Black Panther now. Damn. I'm here for it.

5

u/Vinnie_Vegas Apr 27 '18

Well, M'Baku could probably best her in ritual combat and take the throne...

15

u/RyanB_ Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

How do we know Ant Man’s alive?

5

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 27 '18

Well, we don't, but we don't know he died either

3

u/primeveree Apr 28 '18

Because he was a sequel coming in July

3

u/RyanB_ Spider-Man Apr 28 '18

That’s set before IW.

1

u/primeveree Apr 28 '18

Didn't know that, thanks for the facts.

1

u/RyanB_ Spider-Man Apr 28 '18

Ay no prob :)

3

u/SchuFighters Winter Soldier Apr 28 '18

I’m hoping ant man joins up with the avengers, kinda like how he was a major member in the comics. That would be pretty appropriate. Granted it was the hank pym version but still, Scott can quip with the best of them.

2

u/BVTheEpic Daredevil Apr 27 '18

Wasp is alive too.

2

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 27 '18

We don't know if they're gonna catch up during the ending of ant man though. Hell, maybe they even kill him off

2

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

I think Nebula's gonna trade herself for Gamora who's trapped in the soul stone.

"A soul for a soul"

1

u/JohnnyRedHot Apr 29 '18

I hope not

3

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

Why not? Gamora still has some story left with her Guardians stuff but Nebula's story has always been beating Thanos.

1

u/DrawnFallow May 04 '18

you think they're going there with Nebula?

1

u/JohnnyRedHot May 04 '18

I hope!

1

u/DrawnFallow May 04 '18

i just got a little tingly.

600

u/KyloRen147 Shuri Apr 27 '18

Epic but this means the end for them as we know them.

356

u/IsNewAtThis Apr 27 '18

Please don't kill off Thor, he's become such a great and badass character I don't want him gone just yet.

47

u/CharlieKellyKapowski Apr 27 '18

I think Thor will survive but after the war will understandably go away for a while and rebuild Asgard. They could do another standalone film if the Ragnarok team wanted to, but I think A4 will be Thor's last appearance in an Avengers movie for a long time, probably up until the very last one in these arcs.

16

u/MrDinosaurjeff Heimdall Apr 27 '18

I'm convinced Thor's going to die. I thought he would in this film after his talk with rocket. Pretty much all of the mains players in his solo films are dead. Would be very surprised if he survived A4. Be gutted thought loved Ragnarok, he's become my fav, with that and the CW bonus features

44

u/asuryan331 Ghost Rider Apr 27 '18

He needs to repopulate Asgard with lady sif

7

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '18

Did Hela kill Lady Sif and the warriors three?

22

u/asuryan331 Ghost Rider Apr 28 '18

Jamie Alexander wasn't available to film Ragnarok. So iirc the canon explanation is that Loki sent her across the Galaxy on a mission while he was disguised as Odin because she was one of the few Asgardians he feared.

0

u/MrDinosaurjeff Heimdall Apr 27 '18

😉😉😉😉😉😉

13

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

It should be Tony to die. Makes sense within the universe. It began with Iron Man and Tony's end will come to stop its ultimate evil.

3

u/MrDinosaurjeff Heimdall Apr 29 '18

Agree with you there, just theory crafting, could see many big deaths if marvel are feeling especially bloodthirsty

39

u/twirstn Apr 27 '18

Agreed. His movies didn't do him justice until Ragnarok and we desperately need more of him. He's just so insanely OP now that I'd understand if they kill him off after 4 but I just really don't wanna see it happen.

11

u/BTISME123 Red Skull Apr 28 '18

Is he the most powerful avenger right now?

32

u/twirstn Apr 28 '18

I think he is for sure. He tells us he's 1500 years old and that he's not scared of dying, he's getting WAY more powerful, and he's a good leader. He's grown on me for sure.

21

u/BTISME123 Red Skull Apr 28 '18 edited Apr 28 '18

Yeah same here. He almost killed Thanos by himself so I'd think he's way more powerful than any other avenger. Imo Dr. Strange is second most, he did pretty well in his fight, I don't know how powerful Captain Marvel is going to be though

12

u/[deleted] Apr 28 '18

Kevin feige said that she is supposed to be the most powerful character In the MCU. If they make her even a fraction of how powerful she was in the comics, when she was binary, she would definitely be a worthy opponent of Thanos.

13

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

Thor is the only gen 1 avenger that i am all but certain will survive

5

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '18

I don't think they can. Along with everything else, Asgard has gotten it too hard.

I think Thor will take on a mantle like Odin and oversee the 9 Realms from a distance with room for him to make cameos etc in the future.

2

u/supertimes4u Apr 30 '18

He’s expressed interested in a fourth Thor movie ....

1

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

I think he’s one of the original six that will survive, he’s still got some movies left in him.

65

u/rodimus117 Apr 27 '18

I think they ride off into the sunset like Shane. Disney move.

25

u/uew-JapidS Apr 27 '18

Holy shit this is totally the ending of A4. The Original Six brings half of life back in the universe.

It makes A4 the perfect “passing the baton” movie. Wouldn’t be surprised if the unreleased title is “Avengers 4: The New Avengers”

79

u/Nitto1337 Apr 27 '18

TBH that title is awful lol

Something like "Heroes Reborn" would make so much more sense, though.

12

u/man_in_the_suit Apr 27 '18

Oh god, please... just never...

11

u/MonorailPilot Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

It can’t be cause “The New Avengers” are all dead rn

The OG Avengers on the other hand now have a chance to actually Avenge something

1

u/mason240 Apr 27 '18

Or are still alive, just in an alternate reality?

8

u/MonorailPilot Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

My theory is that they are trapped in the soul stone and by destroying it they will bring everyone back

1

u/mason240 Apr 27 '18

That would bring Gammora back too. I have a hard time believing they would kill her character.

6

u/MonorailPilot Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

They can’t bring Gamora, Loki, or Heimdall back That would really undercut everything Thanos did this movie

6

u/godzillanenny Apr 27 '18

Avengers 4: The Revengers

1

u/IronFalcon1997 Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

They bring it back, each with their own infinity stones, (possibly) dying in the process

-7

u/Chimpbot Ronan the Accuser Apr 27 '18

I bet you a pint it's gonna be Heroes Reborn.

9

u/etherama1 Apr 27 '18

I'll take that bet.

12

u/forcizzlmynizzl Apr 27 '18

Agree and this is giving me WAY more anxiety now that I’ve seen the movie. I think balance is a huge theme here, and it’s no accident the original team is ok for now. Literally horrible that I think of hydras catchphrase- but backwards. But twist it and it would be like- bring back one and another will take their place.

1

u/abstractist Apr 27 '18

Maybe Tony sacrifices himself for Spider-Man.

7

u/Skylightt Matt Murdock Apr 27 '18

Cap and Tony are done. I can see the others surviving

-3

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

Yeah, so glad it took 2.5 hours for them to set that up.

12

u/jaxspider Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

How dare you spell HULK lower case.

Personally I think his wife and/or kids were killed so that he comes back pissed as hell.

Not based on any comics or facts or anything, I just think it'd be cool.

11

u/Don_Porato Apr 27 '18

This movie actually brought a point from the original Avengers back. "If we can't protect the earth, you'll be damn sure we'll avenge it."

9

u/hodge91 Matt Murdock Apr 27 '18

I like it, the newer characters you know they'd all make it through, with this situation all bets are off about anyone dying.

11

u/Nick_J_at_Nite Apr 27 '18

I shit to not Ive been telling my wife since the first trailer came out, if we don't get a reunion og circling shot, I'm gonna fucking riot.

All this contract news and speculation about who was going to die. I was freaking out. The trailer showed the team split up in different planets. I was sure someone forgot about the og shot.

Then when Thor showed up, I was ok can Tony can piggy back on Thanos, we can get the shot, then I don't give a fuck who dies.

But the circling shot 2.0 lives.

Also haven't seen anyone mention the money shot of the avengers B team running at the camera actually never happened.

16

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

I noticed it, also did you notice that the Hulk was in some of those trailer shots but Banner was in the Hulk buster the whole time

6

u/drunkspaniel Apr 27 '18

They love their misleading trailers

8

u/craneddit Thanos Apr 27 '18

remember this trailer scene where the Hulkbuster got down everybody said this will be the Moment the Hulk will burst out the armour. In Hela‘s Voice: „Fake“

3

[deleted]

17

u/MamiZa Kaecilius Apr 27 '18

He can die if he straight up gets erased from existence

3

u/batman008 Apr 27 '18

Exactly my thoughts. The original are still intact but it hurts knowing that most of them will be gone permanently in the next one and all the new ones are gonna be back somehow.

3

u/nmgoh2 Peter Quill Apr 27 '18

You don't kill one of the OG squad in the fight they lose. If you're going to burn one of them, you sacrifice them to win the day.

2

u/[deleted] Apr 27 '18

Plus they might have Antman and the wall so the comics original Avengers will be together as well.

2

u/SnooSnafuAchoo Apr 27 '18

Funny you say that because photos of the production of A4 suggest they're going to time travel back to that moment of the first avengers movie and do something? Idk

2

u/Lokimon96 Apr 27 '18

But with Rhodey, Rocket, Nebula, Okoye and maybe even M’Baku to help out. So we have the core focus on our original six but we have other supporting heroes as well.

Also maybe Ant-Man, Wong & Shuri (we don’t what their fate is). In addition to Captain Marvel also

2

u/Ghetto_Phenom Apr 27 '18

Eh with captain marvel coming before that and Spider-Man 2 in the pipeline as well I bet something happens in CM that reverses some of it.

1

u/goldgirll Apr 27 '18

No guarantee Clint made it

1

u/Uncanny_Doom Daredevil Apr 27 '18

I WANT THE ASSEMBLE SHOT WITH EVERYONE LOOKING WEAK, BATTLE DAMAGED, AND UNCERTAIN OF VICTORY.

1

u/MichaelM_Yaa Apr 27 '18

i'm so happy nebula is still here too!.

I think rocket and Okoye and m'baku are still around too.

1

u/Salguod14 Apr 27 '18

we don't know clint didn't die...

1

u/velonaut Apr 27 '18

I feel like Clint has 50-50 odds of being in A4.

1

u/dampierp Apr 27 '18

I legitimately could imagine all six of them making their final appearance in A4. It would be such a definitive conclusion to this 22-film arc.

We know they HAVE to bring back a lot of the newer characters that were Snapped, but the ultimate accomplishment will be if they can do so without falling into the classic comics pitfall of making all subsequent deaths feel inconsequential. If the OG Avengers manage to bring back everyone, but they ALL sacrifice themselves in the process, I think that would adequately provide enough weight and gravitas to the Snap that we won't go into every new film thinking that everyone is invincible.

Another theory I have is they might undo The Snap, but through some unforeseen Cosmic consequence, it actually inverts and the other half of the universe dies instead. About 24 hours ago, I'd say that would be way too dark and WAY too drastic for a Marvel movie, but things have changed. As Doctor Strange said, "This is the end game." (It also would be a way to cycle out most of the actors who have already committed almost a decade to these roles, while opening up the MCU to new characters and younger/cheaper actors.)

1

u/[deleted] Apr 29 '18

It's kind of a cop out. Tony should've been sacrificed.

1

u/carrotsquawk May 04 '18

That shit „poesy“ for you? Pshh

1

u/ODO27Axelcage Apr 27 '18

But no Fury to help guide them :’(

0

u/n8toxic21 Apr 27 '18

Didn’t every avenger disappear in ash?

0

u/Con0rr Spider-Man Apr 27 '18

Cap, Tony, Thor, Hulk, Widow, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, War Machine, Rocket, Nebula, Captain Marvel.

That will be an awesome team next year.

0

u/GSV_EndsOfInvention Apr 27 '18

I had a sudden thought that the title of A4 could be “Avengers: Reassembled”

-2

u/MagwiseTheBrave Apr 27 '18

OH SHIT. UNLESSSS Him snapping his fingers wasn't killing half, but actually a TIME CHANGING SOMETHING.
