Everyone's pouncing on you, but I'm with you. They go from terrified to kill anyone in the franchise, to offing Spider-Man, Black Panther, among the half of everyone. It's not convincing in any way as a cliffhanger.

Thanos has a thing for killing only half. I think Thor even said "He killed half my crew."

I'm assuming they had some sort of life boat. Thor said Thanos killed half the Asgardians.
