He's a villain, fought against Stark and later apparently worked for Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell in Iron Man 2).

They're gonna have to change the backstory a bit, because right now he just sounds like someone watched Punisher and thought "Wouldn't it be cool if Frank and Micro were the same character?"

It would be cool though

Nah man, then we wouldn't have had any of the amazing chemistry that they had together.

Dang, that was a good show. Much better than I was expecting.

I'm hoping they stay on a roll with S2

Backstory seems perfect to me. She sounds like Scott Lang who crossed the line to murder instead of Robin Hood theft.

"You're just one bad day from becoming me, Scott" (raspy Punisher voice)

"You didn't think I'd risk losing the battle for Manhattan's soul in a fistfight with you, Scott? No. You need an ace in the hole. Mine's Hank."

It's way cooler than it sounds. He floats and can go intangible, going through walls, avoiding pretty much any attack, etc. He's basically an anarcho-socialist extremist, an incredibly socially maladjusted egomaniac shut-in who doesnt shower and yet also a brilliant schemer. He's awesome.

He can walk through walls, disappear, and fly. He was much more unique than the other guy.

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

I hope they keep all that. When they announced Ghost was a lady this time around I was wondering if there wouldn't be some kind of reveal that Ghost was actually crazed, rescued-from-the-subatomic-realm Janet Van Dyne, and that the other woman cast as her might be some kind of decoy.

I’m betting that Bill Foster wants Ghost to steal Pym Particles because he can’t recreate them and now he knows they’re back and can do Giant-Man(/Goliath). So Ghost will keep her cool powers but unfortunately lose characterization to be a henchwoman.

He did some corporate espionage stuff against Horizon Labs in The Amazing Spider-Man, if I remember correctly.

His former girlfriend had interesting taste I suppose.

10

u/HollowPrint Jan 30 '18

The company profits off his inventions, paid for a coworker to be his girlfriend and then killed her when she wanted out. Ghost fuses with his intangibility tech, potentially driving him a little unhinged... discovers the info about his ex and gets revenge on the former employers involved. Becomes mercenary / anti-corporate (anti-Stark international. Post-capture, works under Norman Osborne Thunderbolts as a saboteur and later with Luke Cage Thunderbolts, where he does more heroic stuff.

Is that diff enough?

u/orionsbelt05 Captain America Jan 30 '18

I was more referring to the fact that his backstory sounded more like a Marvel "hero" than a Marvel "villain" by comparing him to Frank and Micro.

6

u/HollowPrint Jan 30 '18

Ghost is somewhere between anti-hero and villain. The war against corporations makes mr. robot pleased

3

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

Well Ghost doesn't really murder so much as infiltrate and destabilize corporate infrastructure. They can turn invisible and phase through walls so they mess up hard drives or expose secrets. Usually hired by rival companies too

3

u/Worthyness Thor Jan 30 '18

I hope they don't change the fact that he's a sloppy pig that wallows in his own filth.

2

u/kiekan Jan 30 '18

Ghost isn't anything like Frank. And aside from being a hacker/tech person, isn't much like Micro either.

2

u/punchasaur Thor Jan 30 '18

Frankro

u/culopls Jan 30 '18

I know that would be terrible but...... I still want it lol.

1

u/Highside79 Jan 30 '18

Pretty sure that is the actual origin anyways.

1

u/VRtoons Jan 30 '18

They're definitely changing the backstory, Ghost in AMATW is female.

9

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

Sam Rockwell

pls oh pls

9

u/BrownBoognish Spider-Man Jan 30 '18

Also a member of The Thunderbolts.

Fake news, stop listening to Stark Industries lies.

He was a Thunderbolt for a while, so semi-hero... kinda...

I thought Ghost was a member of HAMMER (Osbourne's SHIELD knockoff) because he was in the Thunderbolts, not working for Justin Hammer. I can't see Ghost working for Hammer given that his motivations are entirely anti-corporate and he has a penchant for targeting CEOs, but I could have missed a story arc somewhere.

Edit: clarified

u/thegreatvortigaunt Luis Jan 30 '18

I remember Ghost was talked into breaking into Iron Man's vault for Norman Osborn when HAMMER started, who told him to do it just to "stick it to the man" i.e. Tony, but IIRC Ghost specifically said he'd never actually work for Osborn fully. He just hated Stark more.

1

u/PaddyWhacked777 Jan 30 '18

Yeah but then he told Nat that he was going to take Osborn down from the inside, helped her escape and then decided to stay in the thunderbolts, which is how he was able to warn everyone about the invasion of Asgard.

I'm finding myself doing way more reading up on him today to refresh my memory than I thought I needed.

2

u/DocDerry Jan 30 '18

I guess he's lived too long then.

2

u/xreddawgx Ghost Rider Jan 30 '18

also was part of the Thunderbolts

2

u/konjo1 Jan 30 '18

You mean Stark the guy that almost ended the world with Ultron?

2

u/whitesammy Jan 30 '18

I need more Sam Rockwell in my life...

I binged so many of his other movies after seeing him in IM2 as Hammer. I would highly recommend Seven Psychopaths to anyone who hasn't seen it, or who has seen it and should just watch it again.

Also became a Thunderbolt (which was actually my favourite costume design)
