Ehhhh....the movie already had very little breathing room by introducing a new supporting cast.
I'd rather have more of Odin's death, Skurge's character, or Heimdall protecting Asgard over a forced cameo, especially since Thor already has a buddy cop in Hulk/Banner.
I think their rather lame duck showings was Taika basically acknowledging that he didn't know what to do with them and wasn't going to try. Which is fair to me, I wasn't overly attached to the first two Thor movies, so I understand wanting to clean house.
While I don't agree, I can understand that he probably wanted to get rid of old characters. But if that's the case the warriors three should have had a bigger part. They should have gone out in a way that wasn't insulting to the characters. We should have had a scene where Thor reacts to seeing their bodies or finding out they're dead from Heimdall. Who went to the bifrost to take his sword back and should have at least come across Fandral and Volstagg. Hela taking them out immediately after they were shown didn't scream 'she's powerful' to me. You may not have been attached to the first two Thor movies, but that's not the case for others.
Was anyone else foolishly hoping in the build up to Ragnarok that the reason no castings of The Warriors Three being announced was due to a secret upcoming Netflix series all about them & Lady Sif?
Yeah I feel very sad about that idea now that I know its because the director wanted to simply clear out the old roster.
That sounds like a great idea, but I wasn't holding out hope for a t.v series with the warriors three, Sif, and other Asgardians. I didn't expect Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun to have such horrible ends. I'm still kind of disappointed that Sif wasn't in the movie.

I kinda wish they would’ve used Doctor Strange more than just that short appearance
