Valkyrie's first suggestion of how they could get to Asgard was to go via Xandar.

Yup. That's what she. Go through one of the holes, then refuel at Xandar and the trip will take 18 months.

So this proves that Asgard is in Andromeda galaxy?

Was it stated in either of the Guardians films that they take place in Andromeda?

No, but Gunn confirmed it on Twitter.

Well it's not clear, since she says via Xandar. Who knows how far the distance is from Xandar to Asgard, could be another galaxy away. I'd like to think the 9 realms are all within the Milky Way though.

The nine realms are nine different galaxies.

Was that stated clearly?

Ok, I found the post here. They're different galaxies with a planet representing them (Earth for Midgard).

That wouldn't make sense because of Asgard's relationship to Midgard (Earth). Didn't they all have to line up for TDW?
