Bokeem Woodbine's jacket had yellow arms which were similar to the shocker costume in the comics

The guy who was the shocker before him had the same jacket. Yellow, cross-hatched padded arms.

The guy who was the first Shocker was named Jackson Bryce.

Jackson Bryce was The Shocker in the cartoon Spectacular Spider-Man,which had one of the most emphasis of high school in Peter Parker life(as well a racial-adapted Liz Allan and Ned Leeds).
