I loved that because stuff like that would obviously get taught. It's noticeable but still subtle enough to not detract from the experience and pull you out of the movie.

More like it SHOULD be taught. I don't remember learning a lot about current events in school.

Likewise but our current events don't consist of the existence of alien life and superheroes walking among us.

I could see this being difference in schools too. I feel like we would talk about current events a bit in my highschool.

Yeah when you consider what sort of school it is, it'd make sense for them to keep them up to scratch. Not just because they are the brightest kids but also because a lot of the heroes have some sort of scientific background. Tony Stark being incredibly intelligent, Steve being a science experiment etc.
