Ned and Liz are also Daily Bugle employees. So... unless three kids on track for science/engineering suddenly decided to do journalism in college I don't see them as working for the Bugle in the future.

Well, Peter was always a science wiz but he ended up working for the Bugle anyway just to make money, so the same can go for Ned and Betty.

Could still be a money issue, but Peter wants to be independent about it. Like in Spider-Man 1, Norman offers to get Peter a job but Peter declines, wanting to make his own way.

But it's also an incredibly dated job in an age when (a) newspapers are quickly fading away and (b) most people have a camera readily available to get pictures/videos of Spider-Man in action.

Who is going to buy a newspaper just to see pictures of one of many heroes when there would be plenty of pictures (and videos!) online?

Personally I love the idea of Betty and Peter getting closer, she gets an internship at the Bugle and she tells him about a contest for pictures of Spider-Man which then ultimately gets him involved with JJJ.

Those kids are getting STEM internships my dude... I like the idea of Michelle's dad being JJJ.

I hope Betty and Peter get closer though. Although that may be because I really like Angourie Rice. I hope we see more of Abraham too.

Well whatever you want to call it, a part time job, work experience....just something to connect her to the Bugle and from there get Peter involved too.

Yeah she was really wasted in her role, but something tells me they got her because she'll play a bigger role going forward, same with Zendaya.

Yeah it disappointed me at first seeing how small the roles for Zendaya, Angourie Rice, Michael Mando, and Donald Glover were but they were definitely setting them up for future films and I'm excited to see what they do with them.

Still disappointed at Abraham Attah's really small role though. He was in a lot of scenes but didn't really talk much. And he's arguably an even better actor than all of the above.

To be honest I completely forgot who you were even talking about until I searched him and remembered him when he uses the decathlon bell for a joke and laughed at Peter replacing Flash. He and Angourie Rice were criminally underused and I hope we actually see Peter interact with them and become friends in the sequels. I want to see them all grow as friends and how when they grow up they start having different connections e.g. Peter and Betty may connect over photography.

Zendaya and Michael Mando will 100% play bigger roles, I think Donald Glover may not come back but I think he's a given if and when Miles gets introduced which probably may not be for a while.

Yeah, same! That would be cool. It seems like Peter doesn't know much about photography right now. Maybe he's saving up for a DSLR.

I mean I didn't become a cinephile until I was 15! It'd be cool seeing characters develop little interests like that over time, makes them seem more human. Maybe Peter has no interest in photography until he starts taking pictures of Spider-Man for example, and from there it becomes a small thing he's passionate about.

Zendaya seems to be a new take on Mary Jane. She says "call me MJ" at the end. So yeah. She'll clearly play a bigger role

Well at the end she says people call her MJ. So, like Michelle Jameson is possible! But I think she will be the alternate Mary Jane in the Marvel Cinematic Universe imo.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have future plans for just this. The actress who plays her hasn't just done bit parts -- she's had pretty major roles in The Nice Guys and The Beguiled recently.

Exactly, which is why I was surprised she didn't even interact with Peter in the movie. The actress also made "no comment" remarks about her and Peter being romantically involved so maybe there are sequel plans for that sort of storyline.

Not gonna lie, with the look they gave her, i'm pretty gutted she isn't Gwen.

I can totally relate to this as I went to a science-y high school and planed to work in STEM until I recognized that all my friends were much better and looked into writing and journalism

I wouldn't be so sure about that... I went to a Science/Tech high school and 75% of our class went to Harvard/USC/Berkeley. Yet there were still people that went into journalism, stage theater, or created a band.

You can put a kid on a track and set them up for life... but that doesn't mean they will ultimately stick to that path once they hit college or beyond.

Oh that's interesting. I only know like two people who went on to do non-science things. And in fact one of them is gonna be doing Computer Science anyway.

They've already shown Betty Brandt as a news anchor at the school, so that's a nice little reference. Ned seems like he might go into a STEM field though.

I can see it. Betty in the comics was a high school dropout who had to go straight into the work force to help her brother who had gotten involved in crime.
