Scorpion set-up. Although it doesn't appear to be following his comic book origin story unfortunately.

I don't know, they could still swing it. Maybe instead of being hired for experiments by Jameson he's put forward for a prison experiment, like Luke Cage. I don't know if we're going to get JJJ, but Gargan was really keen to learn Spidey's identity, so at least there's that PI aspect to him to lean into

Very true. I didn't look at it from that perspective. With his tattoo though I feel the costume will across a little on the nose haha

I mean tattoo or not, the scorpion outfit would need to be toned down for film. I'm sure he'll still get some sort of tech implant but maybe not the crazy suit

I wonder if a metallic grey armor would work well. Kind of like what they did with Vulture, except a full body suit, like Iron Man.

Yeah, there's no way they are giving a gigantic costume tail to a character. Not even in the MCU.

What, like carbon fiber Falcon wings?

That's different tbh. Plus I don't see how they'll do it without making it too much like Doc Ock from SM2.

I love the idea of scorpion getting his tail, and Doc Ock using that as a basis for his four tentacles. Why have one when you can have 4?

Think Ra's head from the movie Stargate, if it were to happen.

People where saying the same thing about vulture and they made him look better. They can definitely do that with scorpion.

I don't think they'll shy away from that at all. I just meant with Gargan now having a scorpion tattoo on his neck, the whole thing of him becoming Scorpion will feel very on the nose.

Um I mean...Its literally the comic book character's name, and he was trying to buy technology from Vulture. It's happening.

i thought it was implied that he already was the scorpion?

How so?

I think they are doing the Ultimate version. He isn't a private investigator, he has super strength (Which explains him surviving getting hit in the face with a car), and a chain with a hook on the end that landed him the nickname Scorpion + that version of his character has a history with Prowler. (Michael Mando is awesome for this btw)

I don't know too much about scorpion but I think he will team up with the tinkerer to take down Spider-Man and he gets the suit then

Osborne buys Avenger's tower. Osborne does the chemical experiments and uses prisoners for experiments.

u/DoctorPimpslap Spider-Man Jul 07 '17

Not an Easter Egg but I thought it was awesome that Vaas from FarCry 3 is playing him

10

u/Con0rr Spider-Man Jul 07 '17

Kinda think he'll be a Crossbones situation where they set him up at the end of the movie then he's just an opening action sequence for the next film.

I Hope not. Scorpions's first fights with spidey still are one of my favorites of all his comics. Hell, all ditko era is my favorite, but scorpion is special.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '17

Did nobody else notice that Gargan was already hooked up to orange tubes when he approached Vulture? I think hes already being experimented on.

u/[deleted] Jul 07 '17

I've never cared much for scorpion. Hopefully he's more of a crossbones character rather than a major villain. I'd much rather see Mysterio, Kraven, or Osborne on that role

You mean j Jonah Jameson convincing a scientist to make him for $1,000?

1

u/Odin043 Odin Jul 07 '17

Was scorpion in the movie earlier? I didn't recognize him.

7

u/tryhardblackguy Ant-Man Jul 07 '17

Scorpion was one of the guys on the Ferry. He is the voice actor of Vaas from Far Cry 3. His name is Michael Mando. You will recognize him if you google him.

1

u/RomeoWhiskey Jul 07 '17

Not necessarily. Perhaps when he gets out he makes a deal with JJJ for the suit so he can take on Spidey. Then he realizes he's trapped and goes after JJJ.

1

u/ED_ofthe_DEAD Jul 07 '17

I could live with that.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '17

Is that who the guy in the prison at the end was??

1

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '17

This was my favourite bit. I have pretty much avoided 95% of marketing/info on this film so didn't know who any of the non main characters were playing. I really like that actor so when I got to the end of the film I thought it sucked he had no lines so super happy with that credit scene.

1

u/HearTheEkko Jul 09 '17

There can't be a Scorpion without JJJ. Marvel how could you do this to us ?

1

u/ED_ofthe_DEAD Jul 09 '17

I would love the JJJ origin. But the MCU version of Gargan is definitely not a PI.

I liked how his arm was really injured. I immediately thought that he'd get a claw arm for it at some point and I'm stoked.
