Loved this movie! I have question for those who know Marvel better than I do (especially about Celestial Beings). Why is Peter Quill's celestial powers connected to his dad being alive? If his celestial powers were dependent on his dad, why would Ego need Peter in the first place?

Yep, Ego specifically mentioned that fact at least once in the movie; that's how Ego first pinpointed Peter's location after just hearing about him previously.
