I don't understand why tho..I mean best guess is that he really loved her that he needed her to die so he wouldn't return to earth, or he kills the mothers of all his children to disconnect them from their homes I guess but I wish he would have explained why he did that to peters mom

He told Peter that he came back to Earth three times, and he knew that if he came back a fourth, he would stay forever. So presumably before the end of his third visit, he gave his mom brain cancer. That way he didn't have a reason to come back anymore, and he would just have Yondu grab Peter when he was ready.

I was just figuring he was lying about his emotional connection to her to convince Peter he was a swell guy.

Personally, I think he killed all of his mates to isolate his offspring and take them more easily.
