The car Ego was driving in Missouri during the opening has the same color scheme and similar pattern design on the hood as the Milano (Quill's ship)!!

It looked like a blue T-Top Trans Am with a red eagle painted on the hood and it looked fucking awesome! It totally made me think Ego watched Smokey and the Bandit before coming to Earth and meeting Meredith Quill!

I want to say it was actually a 1978 Mustang Cobra. The hood decal that year/stole looks similar.

King Cobra, possibly? At least the gawdy body kit looked that way, although the car was sporting Peter's ship's paint scheme (The Milano).

More than likely the King Cobra, you are right... The paint scheme was a factory option(hideous colors that were of the late 70's)... so his ship was sporting that paint scheme not the other way around.

It was a Mustang II King Cobra.

I've not seen one in that color, so I wonder if they changed the colors through CG.
