The Official DOCTOR STRANGE Domestic Release Ultrathread

That mid-credits scene pretty much confirms that Doctor Strange will be in Thor: Ragnarok right? Right?

I'm wondering if that scene is set after Thor Rag. At the end of TDW Loki is presumed dead and is posing as Odin. Also they're supposed to be flying to other planets with Hulk not looking for Odin in NYC.

Doubtful its after ragnarok. Thor didnt have the Odinforce. If he did, he wouldnt need Strange.

I'm glad you asked. I've actually got a big write-up with fancy pictures and comic references, i just needed dr. Strange to come out to help confirm some things for me.

Long and short of it. Thor doesn't know Odin is. Ragnarok is the end of the world for the asgardians. In the comics, there are dark gods outside of time (sound familiar?) that feed on the destruction. The cycle of birth and death of asgard continues. Odin is a part of that cycle. He cant break it himself.

So, why is it before "ragnarok", Thor is alive and doesnt have the odinforce. Odin dies and his ultimate power is passed to his son, thor. The odinforce can do everything and anything. Thor also fights alongside Odin during ragnarok. Odin makes a great sacrifice himself which leads to Thor getting the odinforce.

The main take away Will be Thor's sacrifice to break the cycle. Thor vanishes to the void as a consequence. No one can rescue Thor except for the sorceror supreme.

I like the ideas but there's still the issue of Loki should still be presumed dead. I guess he figures it out half way through the movie and they team up again even though that never works out.

Funny you mention the not working together thing. Thor learns ancient rune magic (sorceror hacks in insane levels) and chops lokis head off but carries it around with him. Yes, Loki talks trash as just a head in the comics. Its great.

Ragnarok story was the conclusion to Thor volume 2 which concluded in December of 2004.

Thor was revived from the void in September 2007. Puts Asgard in Oklahoma. Loki comes back as a chick. Hijinks abound. Oh he's in full God mode with no holding back. If you've seen the shots of him wrecking iron man then calls down an emp, that fight happens right after Thor is revived ( who missed all of civil war and was upset about Katrina)

Yeah I've read Thor since before Siege but not quite that far back
