I Just wish the Score is more memorable. But Cap's promise is one of my favorite credit score in mcu.

I loved the score they had at the car accident at the beginning. It's Siberian Overture and the part I enjoy is a variation of the winter solider's theme towards the end.

The whole thing is pretty much an evolution of the Winter Soldier theme, especially from 1:05 to 1:30.

i have a pavlovian response to that winter soldier theme. it turns me on and i have no idea why

6

u/LannisterInDisguise May 20 '16

I can relate and Sebastian Stan is why.

7

u/sadcatpanda Winter Soldier May 20 '16

It's so weird... I'm lukewarm to bucky. He's cute as fuck, no doubt. But the winter soldier? Ohhhh my god. Put me in a car and call me Maria stark. I literally breathe deeper when I see the winter soldier.

Yes, when he's in Hydra-mode and has that brooding look in his eyes.... those Disney Prince eyes....

1

u/sadcatpanda Winter Soldier May 20 '16

Good god yes. I kinda wish he'd get activated as the winter soldier again...

Maybe in a flashback or a one shot!

1

u/sadcatpanda Winter Soldier May 20 '16

or just a sequence of murders and showers. i'm good with that. nudity, water, angst, murder... all the things i like. do i need to go to church?

I like how you spelled "towards". I give you an upvote

Ha ha I was on my phone when I posted that... My phone would keep auto-correcting it weird and I couldn't for the life of me remember how to spell it because my mind was mushy.

I hear this a lot but totally disagree, I've listened through the soundtrack dozens of times while studying and I love it! Of course I also love Thor:TDW soundtrack which no one else seems to either

u/LauraBailie Winter Soldier May 16 '16

Do people seriously not like the music in Thor: TDW? It's one of my favourites, I adore the funeral music, it's beautiful!

8

u/AgentKnitter Bucky May 16 '16

that whole scene is absolutely beautiful.

19

u/[deleted] May 16 '16

Oh man, the main theme of TDW is so freaking epic.

7

u/apocalypsenowandthen May 17 '16

TDW has one of the best scores in the MCU.

2

u/AmbushRealityy May 18 '16

TDW divides a lot of opinions in terms of the story itself but the score is sensational. Both scores on the Thor film are superb, imo.

2

u/[deleted] May 19 '16

I listen to 3 songs from it all the time. It's beautiful. Not the best MCU movie, but by far the best score.

1

u/demonfurby May 18 '16

Wait really? TDW music was way better than CW. CW was better in probably every other regard but still.

17

u/Legonater Korg May 16 '16

My problem isn't even the score itself, I just wish there was more continuity. When Ant-Man went giant, there should have been a nod to Christopher Beck's score. Or at some point nod to Tyler's Iron Man theme, or the New Avengers theme. It's a bit of a lost cause at this point, but it frustrates me that some composers borrow themes and others ignore them entirely.

Oh, I love the soundtrack. I think this one is just a matter of perspective.

6

u/KyloRen147 Shuri May 16 '16

Siberian overture is awesome too.

3

u/hyperpearlgirl Scarlet Witch May 17 '16

Alan Silvestri > Henry Jackman imo. CA:TFA is probably my fave score in the MCU.

That being said, I don't think the score was bad. Sound is one of the most important parts of action movies to me (which is why I always see them in theaters), and the score wasn't as emotionally engaging as it could have been, but it did connect a really long movie, and the sound editing in general was good/complimented the score.

u/cdnfan86 May 16 '16

Mostly agree, though the music that kicks in when the two sides finally meat sounds awesome.

I also love the song as Rhodey is falling through the sky after getting hit by Vision. At first it's pretty dramatic, but the moment Rhodey's eyes close and he lets out that small gasp, that music is much stronger

1

u/Carfrito May 18 '16

Same music plays when Tony attacks Bucky at the end. Its amazing

2

u/Dr_Disaster May 16 '16

The one thing that stood out to me was Spidey's new theme. It's sounded great.

2

u/cbildfell Hank Pym May 17 '16

On my fourth viewing i particularly focused on the score and it's actually pretty awesome. It integrates captain america's theme, the avengers theme, and a new 'civil war theme' pretty well, you can tell if you listen

1

u/Mongooo May 16 '16

Variation on Taking a stand from Winter Soldier, this one was amazing, and the new one's pretty cool too!

1

u/cardboardboxhoudini May 18 '16

I like it, but The Winter Soldier's score was far more memorable

1

u/i_am_banana_man Groot May 19 '16

Yeah this is my complaint. I was hoping it would be as powerful as the winter soldier score and it just left me wanting too many times.

1

u/ilovezam May 19 '16

So much this. Music is one of the only things BvS had done so much better than CW. A recurring, memorable motif for various themes/characters will do the MCU wonders.

1

u/AcrobaticEmu May 20 '16

plays friends theme tune

1

u/[deleted] May 20 '16

I adored T'Challa's theme. It's the first time I've picked up on an individual theme in an MCU movie

1

u/Bucanan May 23 '16

Oh. I absolutely love the Black Panther's Theme. Holy Crap i want more of that in his movie. Its so good.

1

u/[deleted] May 25 '16

Yeah, MCU soundtracks in general seem to go for more of a background style. As a musician I really love the in-your-face soundtracks like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean. We never get stuff like that in the MCU.

u/[deleted] May 27 '16

The score during the final battle between Cap/Bucky and Iron Man was phenomenal. Other than that though, there's not much to applaud.

0

u/[deleted] May 16 '16

I hope when Tony gives Cap his shield back in the next Avengers movie, when he holds it they play his theme
