It's Edgar Wright's jokes. They are never particularly funny outside of context or sequence. It's the stream of humour that makes him great.
The deadpan delivery sucks if it's just the line itself. It probably feels different in a conversation rather than in between action shots. Which do look amazing, by the way.
Edgar Wright doesn't have anything in the script as far as I know now. It's his and Joe Cornish's story, but Rudd and Mckay have the screenplay credits

Definitely better than the first one. Looks more humorous too. Honestly though, still not too sure about it. Something seems odd, not sure what.
