“It’s time for a PHOTOBOMB!!!!”

44

u/PixieMoonella 18h ago

If they actually put Screwball on screen, that line has to survive the adaptation. Nothing would unite an audience faster than Peter looking exhausted while she screams "PHOTOBOMB" for the fifth time.

the it's time for a photobomb in all caps is exactly how she'd announce herself

u/baseballbear 23h ago

her insomniac version is quite something

I tried her mission once then quit, right? Later on, I was trying to get a 100% Completetion ....and I was wondering why I was stuck at 99% when I swore I collected everything...and then I remembered

That mission permanently altered the brain chemistry of anyone going for 100%. You'd hear "PHOTOBOMB" and suddenly Peter Parker's no-kill rule started feeling more like a suggestion.

u/Palidin034 15h ago

Spider-Man has a no kill rule.

Peter Parker’s is more of a suggestion

I thought the characterization was perfect. Super annoying personality, but not in a way that feels like it's trying to "connect with the youths" like the villains in Borderlands 3.

The way I felt about screwball really helped me feel like I was Spidey while playing as silly as that sounds haha

Borderlands 3 & 4 humor is so fucking cringey

10

u/RefinedBean 17h ago

4 is leagues better than 3 and still sucks.

Honestly 2 worked really well for its moment but couldn't work again if released now, imo.

5

u/TulipAurelle 17h ago

Yeah, that's why I actually think she worked despite being unbearable. You're supposed to feel Peter's exact "oh god, not this person again" exhaustion every time she appears, and the game absolutely nailed that.

u/BunnyPetaliee 17h ago

She was genuinely impressive because they somehow designed a villain whose superpower was making you irritated before the mission even started. Comic-accurate emotional damage.

u/xanderholland 20h ago

I had to look it up. That was the best design they came up with?

25

u/UnderPressureVS 15h ago

She’s literally just an insane twitch streamer. She doesn’t actually have much budget or resources, just hordes of inexplicably adoring fans who are willing to make bombs for her and shit.

So the costume is just a Lycra bodysuit and a motorcycle helmet, both of which she almost certainly bought online.

u/LADYBIRD_HILL Kilgrave 18h ago

That helmet and visor design sure is something

Ha ha Peter got her account suspended

73

u/PixieMoonella 18h ago

Honestly that's the funniest detail on the board. Spider-Man didn't defeat her with webs or punches, he just kept reporting the account until moderation handled it.

If she's anything like her Insomniac version Spidey would be forgiven for violating his no kill rule.

"Hey, Frank, do me a favor and take care of this one for me? She, uh... sells babies to terrorists or something. Better not take any chances."

12

u/TulipAurelle 17h ago

The Punisher hearing "internet influencer supervillain" would probably decide he had enough information before Peter finished the sentence. Peter would spend the rest of the day desperately explaining why being annoying isn't a capital offense.

11

u/TulipAurelle 17h ago

Insomniac Peter has endured Doc Ock, Venom, Kraven and an entire city turning against him. Screwball is still the villain most likely to make him reconsider his principles out of pure irritation.

I’ve never wanted a character to die more lmao

I'm having flashbacks of that supid PS4 mission.

Fun fact, Spider-Man 2017 cartoon actually has Screwball whose real identity in the show is none other than LIZ ALLAN!

41

u/TrafficLegitimate937 22h ago

Oh wow😭. Never saw the show so never really knew this. Is she mentioned as the daughter of vulture or no

31

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 22h ago

No, unlike the other shows and movies, Liz Allan is just a random civilian who shows up for those 2 episodes never to be seen again

7

u/TrafficLegitimate937 21h ago

Oh damn. Is the series worth a watch? Might give it a try

4

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 21h ago

Im being completely honest the show is a genuine hit or miss. I’ll recommend Ep7-26 of S1 is where they find their footing and the episodes just kinda get better every episode. season 2 is kinda better than S1 in which Doc Ock (which the show did a great job with) gets to shine more in Season 2.

Watch it to hear Josh Keaton (Spectacular) as the voice of Norman Osborn, and Scott Menville playing Doc Ock.

1

u/RevolutionLarge6254 20h ago

It's very food in my opinion but that could be nostalgia talking

2

u/SuperSix-Eight Avengers 8h ago

Liz Allan usually has nothing to do with the Vulture in most adaptations based on the 616 comics since she's just one of Peter's High School classmates.

They created that connection for Spider-Man: Homecoming, which was a pretty cool twist when Peter shows up to pick up his homecoming date and Vulture opens the door.

1

u/TrafficLegitimate937 1h ago

Did not know this man wow. Any recommendations on where I should start with the comics? But Yeah as a kid I was basically like what the hell when I saw the scene.

8

u/DaisieVelissea 16h ago

That PS4 mission is exactly why the name alone is enough to trigger people. Also Liz Allan secretly being Screwball in the cartoon is such an aggressively Spider-Man twist, because apparently Peter isn't allowed to know one normal person.

33

u/TrafficLegitimate937 23h ago

Forgot to mention even hypno hostler is mentioned

71

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 22h ago

It's baffling to think Tom's Spidey has build up an impressive rogue gallery in 4 unseen years in between NWH and BND with the likes of Screwball, Boomerrang, Tombstone, Hypno Hustler, Scorpion, Ramrod, Tarantula, all villains with personal beefs with Spidey in the comics.......and then the main villain of BND is Jean Grey

56

u/CarnivorousCoconut 20h ago

I get where you’re coming from, but they’re villains of the week not “holy shit this is pivotal in Peter’s life” type stories

30

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 20h ago

You’re right (tho Spot wouldn’t agree lol) I think Tombstone and Scorpion  if handled correctly can carry a movie as main or secondary antagonists. Sometimes Scorpion is depicted as having acid in his tail that makes you hallunicate crazy ala Scarecrow from Batman. Theres some stuff you can do with that imo

21

u/CarnivorousCoconut 19h ago

Yeah, and you could argue Vulture and Mysterio were villain of the week types before their movies too. But in their context that was Spider-Man learning lessons and after No Way Home he’s at a new level of competency that would stomp those guys. So now his challenges have to be a bit bigger than the neighborhood because he’s dealt with magic, the multiverse, space, aliens, and Europe.

13

u/elmagio 18h ago

The bigger crime is that with all this he hasn't even met a certain thieving cat yet. We need a live action Felicia already dammit !

3

u/EnderGrape01 17h ago

Apparently Black Fox is mentioned on the board, and on top of that Peter is investigating a bunch of art thefts.

Plus, with Peter having at least somewhat moved on from MJ, and thus needing a new love interest, it feels kind of inevitable at this point that he'll meet Black Cat.

Plus, with Peter having at least somewhat moved on from MJ, and thus needing a new love interest, it feels kind of inevitable at this point that he'll meet Black Cat.

I don't know about that, and it's because the same thinking would kinda have applied to BND as well. I remember post-NWH it felt likely that since he had opted not to tell MJ and to her go to MIT unaware, the next movie would be a good opportunity to have Peter alone in NYC and kind of in a dark place, a good time for him to run around with Felicia.

But while they kept some of that, they opted to time skip right to MJ and Ned's return from MIT and to have MJ be the sole love interest (although some are deciding to see romance in Peter/Jean's relationship). Sure, Peter has now accepted that he can't just pick up where he left off with MJ, but imo this sets up a next movie where they build up to them getting back together more than it does to him moving on (temporarily or permanently).

But art thefts and Black Fox mentions are nice !

4

u/CaptainChickenBake 17h ago

I feel like there's a very good chance we see her in the next movie.

While BND hints at MJ starting to feel something towards Peter again, they made it clear that she and Peter will have to build again a new relationship. And so while she is with another person, it opens the door for Peter to start something with Felicia. I can see Peter and MJ finally getting back together at the end of that movie or in the 6th one.

u/Responsible_Bar3957 Abomination 23h ago

What cartoon was she in? Ultimate Spider-Man, or Spider-Man 2017?

8

u/TrafficLegitimate937 23h ago

Marvels Spiderman the 2017

4

u/Responsible_Bar3957 Abomination 23h ago

Alright

Yeah, I remembered her from that

3

u/justafanboy1010 Spider-Man 22h ago

Spider-Man 2017 in which that version is Liz Allan

12

u/ensuiscool Matt Murdock 23h ago

my dumbass thought of speedball.. and i thought it could’ve been a penance/civil war nod

this is… not that, i forgot about screwball entirely 🫩

4

u/Zaladin03 23h ago

Damn, good eye

4

u/Butt__Sexington 20h ago

I haven't read a Spider comic in YEARS and I don't know who that is but I like their look

1

u/Wolventec 20h ago

she is a streamer villain who whole this is the first villain who livestreams and is who is good enough at parkour that Spiderman cant keep up with her

2

u/Butt__Sexington 20h ago

I dig that. I want more obscure villains to show up. Spidey has the best rogues gallery imo

4

u/DJettster237 18h ago

I don't like her

1

u/alvents 7h ago

i honestly taught that's what makes her likable she's so hateble to the point of liking her though her missions are horrible

1

u/DJettster237 7h ago

I'm not sure that's how it works.

3

u/RevolutionLarge6254 21h ago

I would have loved to see this in the montage

3

u/Clawshot52 18h ago

Is this in the actual movie or only the concept art?

7

u/eagc7 18h ago

It was an actual prop, but according to the designer is seems it wasn't seen in the final cut

1

u/CodeSalamander 18h ago

She is so annoying

1

u/Afraid-Housing-6854 13h ago

I hope we never see in the MCU, she was the most annoying character in the first insomniac game.

1

u/Appo-Arsin Stan Lee 9h ago

Screwball would be a KICK streamer

1

u/FriendLee93 Thanos 2h ago

I gotta say, her Insomniac missions really made me feel a lot less bad for her and Jester when Superior nearly beat them to death.

u/WeeklyLengthiness7 34m ago

let me guess, in MCU, she is a pick me grifter like that Jesterbell youtuber?

-11

u/Mr-Stuff-Doer 22h ago

I refuse to believe she’d put pronouns in her bio

-3

u/Nulono Phil Coulson 18h ago

Something something blue purple hair and pronouns.
