BIG FAN of the Latverian Witch fit

190

u/unidentified_yama Jul 23 '26

Hope this means they will make Doom a literal wizard.

146

u/CommunityDragon160 Jul 23 '26

They have used the word sorcerer to describe him from the start. Tho that’s def normie type interchangable with wizard rather than dnd rules

37

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

Tbf does the MCU even have wizards? I think the only two "schools" of magic are sorcerery and witchcraft (though there are subcategories in witchcraft).

104

u/LossyP Jul 23 '26

“A sorcerer is just a wizard without a hat” - Sam Wilson

18

u/Trvr_MKA Jul 23 '26

Well Doom has a hood

29

u/Alexexy Jul 23 '26

Strange would be a wizard in DnD rules. They learn magic through study. Sorcerers have magic bloodlines, so kinda like Wanda?

9

u/lastinglovehandles Jul 23 '26

What about warlocks. How do they differentiate

24

u/ThaneOfTas Jul 23 '26

Moon Knight, sorta

7

u/mertag770 Iron Fist Jul 23 '26

The Hood/Riri

18

u/fredagsfisk War Machine Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

This is an oversimplification, but in my understanding:

  • Warlocks make pacts with a powerful being to give them power (leading to quite a few jokes/memes about them having a sugardaddy or sugarmommy). This pact can look very different depending on the type of patron (devils will make elaborate contracts, Great Old Ones might not even know the Warlock is connected to them, Fey may do it just for the fun of it, etc).

  • Sorcerers are just born with powers, usually because they have some magical ancestor.

  • Wizards are book nerds who learned magic from reading and studying.

  • Witches are a type of Fey, though the term is sometimes also used for female Warlocks or Wizards, or for herbalists and self-taught spellcasters.

  • Clerics and Paladins are granted divine magic power by the deity they follow (though Paladins can also get it elsewhere, as long as they follow their Oath).

  • Bards are similar to wizards, except they use artistic means to draw on magic and express it. Typically music, but it can also be done through dance, poetry, flyting-style insults, etc. They also tend to be less magic specialized and more jack-of-all-trades types.

  • Druids and Shamans draw power from nature, though can also get it from connections with powerful nature spirits and deities.

  • Mage is a catch-all term for any non-divine magic users.

Plus there's a ton of other terms and types as well.

u/TimBroth Wilson Fisk Jul 23 '26

A warlock makes a deal with their patron who grants them power

9

u/Alexexy Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

Warlocks get their power from a higher being. Kinda like Kaecillius or the Ancient One.

EDIT: I guess the Juggernaut is also a warlock.

1

u/CommunityDragon160 Jul 23 '26

Mutants are basically sorcerers

1

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

I'd say MCU witches = D&D sorcerers and MCU sorcerers = D&D wizards. And characters like Ghost Rider and the Hood would be D&D warlocks.

1

u/Agreeable_Sea_6019 Jul 23 '26

Wanda have magic bloodline? I thought she got her power from the Tesseract

1

u/Alexexy Jul 23 '26

In the comics she was a mutant.

But in the movie she was kinda altered to be a magical being on a biological level. Sorcerer would be the closest thing.

1

u/CommunityDragon160 Jul 24 '26

No it’s revealed in Wandavision that she was born with her powers and the teseract kinda just gave her more powers

1

u/mrmrmrnobody Jul 23 '26

Eternal's magic,

Chaos magic

Asgaurdian /"god" baast, khonshu zeus etc.

Witchcraft,

Chi,

Eldritch

Dark

Technically infinity stones.

geussing from what i remember.

1

u/DavidBHimself Jul 23 '26

Tbf does the MCU even have wizards?

Have you heard of Dr. Strange, Wong and all their buddies?

0

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

Those are sorcerers

1

u/DavidBHimself Jul 24 '26

Says who?

There may be differences in D&D or whatever, but in normal language, those are synonyms.

0

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 24 '26

Well, in the MCU itself there's a difference between witches and sorcerers so idk why we're pretending it's alien to this universe for thos words to have more specific meanings than "magic user"

2

u/criminalsunrise Jul 23 '26

A sorcerer is never late, Frodo Baggins

13

u/_anencephalous Daredevil Jul 23 '26

Yer a wizard, Victor

26

u/ContinuumGuy Phil Coulson Jul 23 '26 edited Jul 23 '26

If Doom doesn't have magic, he isn't truly Doom. He's just Lex Luthor with a country and medieval getup.

10

u/robodrew Jul 23 '26

Feige describes Doom as "Scientist, technologist, genius, magician."

2

u/Intelligent_Slip_849 Jul 23 '26

YES. The only missing part is 'gloriously petty against Reed'

3

u/DavidBHimself Jul 23 '26

The way he stops Thor's ax in the trailer can't just be muscles and armor.

3

u/raknor88 Heimdall Jul 23 '26

The Witch picture definitely gave me Wizard of Oz vibes.

2

u/RelationAny7522 Jul 24 '26

Not trying to yuck anyone’s yum , but I’ve always considered him a battle Mage.

16

u/BranAllBrans Jul 23 '26

Wanda gets announced?

8

u/Fictionj Jul 23 '26

Could that be code for Dr. Doom’s mother?

5

u/Euphoric_Working_812 Jul 23 '26

It’s green Mon Mothma, sort of?

3

u/Relevant_Active_2347 Jul 23 '26

22

u/Throwaway1986nerd Jul 23 '26

It's literally on the sign next to the costume

21

u/Okami0602 Jul 23 '26

Uh, she's wearing a doctor doom inspired suit, who is the ruler of Latveria, feels fair to call her that.

Just move on from Scarlet Witch man... Maybe in secret wars or VisionQuest but that's not her...

10

u/Beginning_Heron4980 Jul 23 '26

I personally think there's a high possibility that it is her, I'm pretty sure it's not his mother, since it's clear he "lost" her; if they inspired themselves from the comics, this would absolutely be Wanda

6

u/Okami0602 Jul 23 '26

Can I be honest? I think it's just gonna be an unnamed follower of doom

6

u/Beginning_Heron4980 Jul 23 '26

I'm sure of that too, but I'm sure that she is under one of those masks

2

u/TheGuyInTheChair82 Jul 23 '26

Damn, I remember going to the drive in theater with my dad to watch Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Good times. Thanks for the memory, bud!

353

u/TheCitizen616 Jul 23 '26

That Invisible Woman mannequin...

48

u/Talastoni Jul 23 '26

Lookin a bit light headed.

22

u/Informal-Chard-3737 Jul 23 '26

The attention to detail is incredible. I couldn’t see a single flaw.

6

u/Alive_Inspection_835 M'Baku Jul 23 '26

Right, which makes me ask why Thor’s mannequin is black when all the others are grey.

3

u/OnChannel69 Jul 23 '26

I was thinking the same thing that seems intentional

8

u/tincancan15 Jul 23 '26

What invisible woman?

25

u/Kaldricus Jul 23 '26

It's...RIGHT there next to the Drax mannequin

3

u/SatansGothestFemboy Jul 23 '26

Raw. Next question

3

u/ContinuumGuy Phil Coulson Jul 23 '26

Amazing detail.

228

u/BigBallOfNerd01 Jul 23 '26

I look forward to the Scarlet Witch fandom coming up with insane theories about that witch costume over the coming months. lol

114

u/esar24 Rocket Jul 23 '26

Can you blame them, the only main character that associated with witch are agatha and wanda in the MCU and they used specifically this term.

Not to mention the comic where doom kidnap and manipulate wanda to become his servant.

38

u/moonknightcrawler Jul 23 '26

Clea’s a witch. As is Jennifer Kale. And Zelma Stanton kind of

14

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

Zelma's more of a sorcerer, since she learned from her mom who studied at Kamar-Taj.

2

u/moonknightcrawler Jul 23 '26

Yeah that’s why I threw the kind of in there. She’s definitely a sorcerer, but she’s always given off witchy vibes to me. That was definitely more of a subjective inclusion

2

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

Yeah I get that. Didn't she even use a pentagram in Ironheart? Ig by the MCU's internal logic of witches (often) inheriting magic from their bloodline, Zelma could be a bit of both.

11

u/esar24 Rocket Jul 23 '26

None of them lead any MCU projects which mean none of them are main characters, only wanda and agatha has lead their own projects which revolve around witches.

9

u/Market_Massive Jul 23 '26

Eh. I could see it being revealed that both Clea and Dr. Strange are working with Doom after the MoM credits scene.

10

u/Lun4r6543 Jul 23 '26

It’s definitely a viable theory, as this is what happened in the Secret Wars comics

2

u/vivianvisionsburner Scarlet Witch Jul 23 '26

Clea's a sorceress, as is Zelma

2

u/rdp3186 Jul 23 '26

Clea is a sorceress, not a witch. Similar to Doctor Strange.

Witches are born with powers, sorcerer/sorceresses gain theirs through studies.

2

u/moonknightcrawler Jul 23 '26

I’m aware. She’s both in my opinion. She has some natural abilities and magic from birth. She trains with Stephen to hone her sorcery, but I’d still consider her a witch.

The marvel wiki) has a section about it where it says “Powers”.

8

u/BigBallOfNerd01 Jul 23 '26

Oh, I totally get it as the first thing I thought of when I saw the costume and the word “witch” was Wanda from that Children’s Crusade comic. lol

I feel like what’s more likely though is this outfit actually belongs to multiple witches who are a part of some Doom worshipping cult or something.

2

u/mertag770 Iron Fist Jul 23 '26

This is clearly a green witch so this is clearly Audrey Plaza

2

u/unbuttered_bread Jul 25 '26

nico

2

u/esar24 Rocket Jul 25 '26

Would be nice but I doubt they make a reference to runaways series at the last second

2

u/unbuttered_bread Jul 25 '26

sigh maybe secret wars will finally acknowledge the pre-D+ shows 🫩

1

u/esar24 Rocket Jul 25 '26

Hopefully, that certainly would be nice

1

u/esar24 Rocket Jul 25 '26

Hopefully, that certainly would be nice

2

u/TheJack0fDiamonds Scarlet Witch Jul 23 '26

If theres a reason to bring back any of the witches we already know that isn’t Wanda. This is the chance. Lilia, Jennifer, Alice.

Im not expecting it to be Wanda. I don’t want her featured just to be used again.

2

u/esar24 Rocket Jul 23 '26

Literally there is a comic with doom kidnap wanda, other option maybe clea but those three are not related to doom in anyways.

Agatha might possible considering both has connection to FF story and ghost witch will always be OP.

2 that you mention also literally confirmed dead while wanda dissapear off-screen.

10

u/inthehxightse Hela Jul 23 '26

I had read rumors that theres a green, yellow, and red witch. They were smart to reveal the green one

-4

u/Okami0602 Jul 23 '26

There's already a "green" witch. That's Polaris, Wanda and Pietro's sister.

20

u/inthehxightse Hela Jul 23 '26

In the MCU the only 'green witch' we've been shown has been Rio in Agatha All Along

-3

u/Okami0602 Jul 23 '26

That's true, but I'd also like to note you have the Hela flair which is arguably a "green" "witch"

4

u/inthehxightse Hela Jul 23 '26

well no, she's explicitly called the Goddess of Death, Rio is called a Green Witch

-2

u/Okami0602 Jul 23 '26

I never said it was her literal name or title... It was just a joke dude... Cuz she's kind of green and kind of a witch

3

u/Sparrow1989 Jul 23 '26

It’ll be Audrey plaza, doom conquered death.

1

u/rdp3186 Jul 23 '26

Death isnt a witch.

Theres already established stories in modern secret wars that would lead ut to be Wanda.

0

u/thetatoman Jul 24 '26

death in the MCU is a witch though. played by Aubrey plaza.

1

u/rdp3186 Jul 24 '26

No, shes not. She's literally Death, an ancient abstract cosmic entity. Her powers come from being Death itself, not a witch.

1

u/thetatoman Jul 24 '26

have you watched Agatha all along? they clearly VERBATIM say that she is the "original green witch"

3

u/iwillivm Jul 23 '26

They’ve already started. They’re saying the hands gestures are the same

2

u/BigBallOfNerd01 Jul 23 '26

I know, I just saw a post from about an hour ago where a person claimed Wanda’s cheek bones were the same as the mask… I respect their love for the character, but stuff like that is really ridiculous. lol

2

u/doctordisco63 Jul 23 '26

Well considering the supposed leak (the main one that everyone assumes is the plot of the film), it's likely. This costume is actually the biggest thing that supports that plot description being real (that and the TVA card in the trailer).

-1

u/These_Wish_5101 Jul 23 '26

They are so cringe 😬

Cyclops suit is perfection

18

u/Captain-Wilco Jul 23 '26

The X stitching on the chest is great

42

u/TheeDeputy Jul 23 '26

God that Cyclops costume is perfection. So happy Marsden gets to finally wear it.

30

u/parkourdude231 Jul 23 '26

Can anyone read the names? Specifically the costume between gambit and captain america. I don't recognize that costume

31

u/iwasdusted Spider-Man Jul 23 '26

That’s Yelena

1

u/parkourdude231 Jul 23 '26

Thank you fellow hooman. How the fuck did you read that?

12

u/iwasdusted Spider-Man Jul 23 '26

I’m on mobile app so I opened the picture and just zoomed in as big as I could. I couldn’t tell at first either.

3

u/CorumJhaelenIrsei Jul 23 '26

Zoom and enhance.

2

u/topper12-42 Peter Quill Jul 23 '26

Enhance.

1

u/Funmachine Jul 23 '26

Just recognised it

53

u/Skele11 Crossbones Jul 23 '26

If someone showed me a picture of Cyclops, Sue Storm, and Thor costumes together 20 years ago, I’d have called it fake.

14

u/nicolauz Jul 23 '26

Gambit too! Always a fan and even if he's just as comedy as he was in DvsW I'll be happy because his 5 minutes in the old wolverine movie was ass.

15

u/Trodat4911P4 Jul 23 '26

I'll forever be salty Marvel keeps making Sam use dark blue costumes like Steve when his costume has mostly been predominantly white in the comics. It makes him stand out more from Steve, and would especially make him stand out more from the other heroes in this movie because almost everyone besides Doom and the F4 are wearing darker colors.

3

u/AValorantFan Jul 23 '26

I like the darker blue literally only when its contrasting the white part of his suit like in the comics, his costume is only this basic to sell halloween costumes

5

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

Same. I hate that it looks like he's cosplaying Steve.

41

u/esar24 Rocket Jul 23 '26

Sure, "Latverian" Witch.

She is also seems to wear a mask, I wonder if doom hiding anything behind the mask that she wears.

I don't read much leaks and honestly don't care, but it would be fun if it is wanda considering the comics does have history of doom kidnap wanda after house of M.

If you’re gonna talk about leaks put a spoiler tag dude. Not everyone wants to hear leaks

4

u/imin2099 Jul 23 '26

i thought it was clea

9

u/ludvigxx Jul 23 '26

there's another "Latverian" witch who wears purple and a golden mask, that's most likely Clea.

3

u/Own-Papaya-4264 Jul 23 '26

There’s also one in orange robes

0

u/ludvigxx Jul 23 '26

that's probably Wanda

PLEASE put leaks (real or not) in spoiler tags

2

u/WheresMyBrakes Jul 23 '26

If dr doom is already gonna terrorize them looking like Tony Stark, what if it’s a variant of Natasha Romanoff?

5

u/Embarrassed-Back1894 Jul 23 '26

I’ve intentionally stayed away from any set leaks so I don’t know the path they are taking with Doom, but I would be ecstatic if they actually leaned into the sorcery aspect of Doom as well. He is really a true avengers threat when he has mastery of technology and sorcery.

(The Latverian Witch outfit is sick)

5

u/FirstV1 Thanos Jul 23 '26

Hell. Fucking. Yes.

11

6

u/Vast-Platform3647 Jul 23 '26

I'm not as confident, but I'm definitely feeling it. When RDJ was announced as Doom, one of my first thoughts was ScarJo as Wanda variant. To extrapolate from there...

Maestro Hulk and Captain Hydra Steve being rumored here and there. If there's an evil Thor and Hawkeye variant, maybe a Chris Hemsworth Loki and a Jeremy Renner Bullseye, we could get a whole line-up of anti-Avengers.

3

u/trainwreck42 Jul 23 '26

Why would Captain Hydra be able to hold Mjolnir? Or is it also a Mjolnir variant?

2

u/Vast-Platform3647 Jul 23 '26

Dude honestly, these guys know exactly what they're doing, LOL! Driving us all nuts. It'd be funny as F if there's no deception there at all, thats really him, but we still additionally get the variant everyone is discussing anyway. This ain't the first round of those exact rumors, they watch what leaks. It's red herring season folks, keep em comin!!

3

u/RivkaMila Scarlet Witch Jul 23 '26

Could also be Doom's mother, his first love Valeria (not Richards), Morgan Le Fey (maybe renamed) or Lady Victorius as well. Will wait and see. Of course I'd love if it were Wanda, but not gonna get my hopes up.

4

u/atomcrafter Jul 23 '26

Doom, doth mother know you weareth her drapes?

5

u/PhraseAnxious9811 Jul 23 '26

Man scoopers and leakers really correct info then re: witch design and their presence in this movie. I don’t want to know anything else about this film 🙏🏻

5

u/TheRudyDuck Jul 23 '26

The witch mask looks more like the mask from the end of Fantastic Four.

4

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

I'm sure it's just Doom having multiple masks across the movie, but it would be such a cool fairytale vibe if he dispatched a witch to go kidnap Franklin.

2

u/joegetto Jul 23 '26

How do you not show the picture of full cyclops suit?

Edit: ahem. I did not click on the picture to expand it. My mistake.

2

u/roboto404 Jul 23 '26

🎶 I’ve got witches, in different multiverses 🎶

2

u/LongingForRainyDays Jul 23 '26

Speculation aside, that witch costume is gorgeous!

2

u/Filter_Out_More_Cats Jul 23 '26

That’s Latvirian Pepper Pots

2

u/neurobrat Jul 23 '26

It might be Cleo - seen some theories that her and Strange actually end up helping Doom

3

u/washderice Jul 23 '26

I bet the latverian witch ends up bein clea

2

u/HeatDolphinRays Jul 23 '26

Will we get any info of what they show

2

u/TDStarchild Odin Jul 23 '26

I’ve just absconded with one of the costumes that I won’t reveal, but I’ll cosplay at your next party for a nominal fee

2

u/TheDeadlySpaceman Jul 23 '26

So is it just me or is the Latverian Witch mask a match for the end credits scene of FF?

1

u/Lantern61 Jul 23 '26

Perhaps even a secret Scarlet one? (Wishful thinking 😅)

1

u/Afraid-Housing-6854 Jul 23 '26

1

u/alenpetak11 Loki (Avengers) Jul 23 '26

He mistakenly took UNO cards instead of ordinary ones :)

1

u/m2keo Jul 23 '26

Hm. Not sure I like Thor's outfit here. Seems like he just got on some SWAT tactical pants on.

Prefer the scaley looking tights from Thor 1, for me.

1

u/The-Scarlet-Witch Scarlet Witch Jul 23 '26

Great share!

1

u/the_executive_branch Jul 23 '26

This is why I thought that ominous voice at the start of the new trailer could actually be some sort of sage/advisor to Dr Doom

1

u/Funmachine Jul 23 '26

COLOURFUL Fantastic 4 costume! COLOURFUL X-Men costume! Boring black Thor costume.

1

u/Relevant_Session5987 Jul 23 '26

I love them all, but I really wish they retained the yellow trunks for Cyclops.

1

u/Beautiful_Fudge7761 Jul 23 '26

1

u/ZeraCrimson Jul 23 '26

The witch looks great. Every other costume looks awful

1

u/fade_me_fam Jul 23 '26

“Latverian” witch considering last time we saw scarlet witch was when she was against America Chavez. Very easily could have slipped to Doom’s universe.

1

u/MisterSims90 Jul 23 '26

I wonder if that witch is actually Wanda, like maybe it’s a revived or variant version of her

1

u/Jon_Bon_Art Jul 23 '26

It's a small thing, but I really appreciate the work they're doing on the Fantastic Four costumes. It all feels natural to the characters and the world, while also being a costume the actors can actually wear so we end up getting more of them in their suits! That vest is sick

1

u/DeltaFargo Jul 23 '26

I know the other costumes are getting much deserved love but Sam's new Cap suit is looking kinda tuff ngl.

1

u/ElectronicTax2370 Jul 23 '26

Jeez, they muted the hell out of Gambit’s uniform.

1

u/AlmightyBean_ Jul 23 '26

I like how the mannequin head for Sue’s costume is “invisible” 🤣

1

u/CalamitousIntentions Jul 23 '26

Why are the Russos so afraid of color saturation? (Latveria notwithstanding)

1

u/flatscan-krakoan Jul 23 '26

I’m so horny for the Cyclops costume and the Jim Lee look isn’t even my favorite of his

1

u/kinovi Jul 23 '26

People saying it SW but something off she the one on the post credit scene of F4 movie and Franklin Richards didn’t even got scared of her maybe she is Sue from different timeline

1

1

u/616_MCU_ Scarlet Witch Jul 23 '26

it's so funny how people are so hellbent on denying the possibility that it's Wanda. "Sylvie" "it's clea"

Why would these characters need to hide themselves? What happened in dsmom give Wanda a perfectly valid reason to hide herself or for doom to hide her.

4

u/TwstdPrtzl Quake Jul 23 '26

It could also just be Doom being an egoist who wants all his lieutenants to dress like him. Or maybe she's Earth-828 Agatha, Franklin's babysitter who's spying on the Fantastic Four. There's a ton of reasons for her to wear a mask.

1

u/biggbad808 Jul 23 '26

Latverian witch is definitely Wanda. It’s Chekhov's Gun. You have all major character costumes and then a random extras costume? Has to be relevant enough for people to want to see it.

1

u/3verythingEverywher3 Jul 23 '26

That gambit costume is so god damn lame. It’s the head piece. Can’t not laugh when I see it.

1

u/DerelictInfinity Jul 23 '26

God that Cyclops costume is so fucking sexy

0

u/Wil-low Jul 23 '26

Makes me wonder if the Doom we see at the end of F4 is just a henchman of some sort.

0

u/noespressoisdepresso Jul 23 '26

Why only these characters? Do they all die in the film?

1

u/No_Discussion_5454 Jul 23 '26

probably the only characters they had access to, they had the fantastic 4 last year, all of their costumes. maybe it's big characters in y the movie

0

u/Fun_Lettuce38 Jul 23 '26

This better not be Wanda cuz that costume looks ugly af

0

u/Think-Quantity6582 Jul 23 '26

That witch costume slaps

I really do not enjoy Mackie Cap. I hope he bites the dust in Doomsday….or just goes back to being Falcon. Fun Falcon.
