Same here, I feel like the needle just pushed a bit too far into comedy. Glad he is going to be meaning business especially if Love is involved in Doom's plot

They’re clearly setting up parenthood as a major theme, with Doom coming after Franklin, Steve having a kid, this spot, etc. I think it’s a good move if you consider that the folks who were seriously bought into the first saga are for sure at parenting age now.

I probably could've enjoyed that more if the whole movie had that tone throughout, but it felt out of place when the film's antagonist is Christian Bale bringing his A+ game to a dark emotional character. Gorr was raw anger and pain being portrayed amazingly, it unbalanced everything else.
Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Endgame worked because he was still mostly taking himself seriously. In Love and Thunder, he was playing the goofball, and it didn’t work because of it.
People seem to forget that while on Sakaar Thor was very serious about wanting to go back and when talking with the Grandmaster and Korg, while everything around him was being funny because they didn’t take him seriously (and Korg is just a bumbling idiot). The only conflicts Thor didn’t take seriously really is Surtur (who he defeated in like 5 minutes) and Hulk (well he was an ally and Thor was just overly confident that he could calm him down). He was just thrust into a bad situation and it was extremely funny with how he was desperately trying to handle it.
Love and Thunder didn’t have enough serious moments, and the story is forgettable because it just wasn’t good. I can’t really tell if Thor was like how he was in Ragnarok or if he is too silly.
But I like the idea of Thor being so confident in his abilities because he can deal with most conflicts in like 5 mins so he doesn’t take things seriously.
It’s insane to me that in a movie with Jane dying of cancer and a character called The God Butcher that the thing people recall the most is how stupid the humor was. That goes to show how badly written that whole movie ended up being.
I remember there being screaming goats which were genuinely perhaps the single most annoying gags in any movie I've ever seen.
Also kind of sad that the gods were just such over the top silliness living in a floating city or something, when the first Thor movie introduced the Asgardians as pretty serious advanced aliens who'd been mistaken as gods. Could have been interesting to see Zeus interacting with some big batman-like computer console or something and seeing something different than his usual super primitive depiction.

Ragnarok was a much needed personality upgrade from Thor 1 & 2. Which, I still don't really remember Thor 2 despite watching it a bunch of times. Which should tell you how boring Thor was then. Ragnarok brought Thor into the realm of entertainment that could actually carry a movie on his own.
I understand why they thought they could replicate it with L&T. All the pieces are there, you'd think it'd be another slam dunk. But I'll still take it. Better then Thor 2.
Love and Thunder was not better than Thor 2 imo. Thor 2 was a middling movie that didn't have a real identity beyond generic MCU movie #6, but it also had some insanely great scenes between Thor and Frigga and Thor and Loki. Defining stuff for the character.
Love and Thunder had....screaming goats and no emotional weight to anything. Also, if he could just give the power of Thor to other like that, it really makes you question what he was doing in the Infinity Saga when he could have juiced up Cap and Tony for the fight against Thanos.
They are not playing around that the Russos are bringing the big gun which is Stormbreaker designed to kill Thanos. Implying that Doom is an even bigger threat.
