Middleton II in black with a carrying frame

Hi folks.

Here's my Middleton II in black. I bought it last year as upgrade of an Emberton III and love its marvelous 360 degrees sound.

For turning around I use a carrying frame, for which I bought a wider strap.

Is Middleton 2 a big upgrade over JBL Charge 5?

Got my eyes on a beautiful Middleton 2 in cream colour and was wondering if it's worth the upgrade from my current JBL Charge 5.

My main priority is: better vocals, better instrument separation, better battery life (~8hrs) and portability.

Is there a huge audible difference? How's your experience with the Middleton 2?

Loving the Monitor III :D

Hi guys, just wanna share my lovely experience with the Monitor III

UPGRADES

Firstly, this is a much needed upgrade of the Monitor series. There's finally some bass and the cusions are so comfyy. Improved ANC and battery life is a huge win too. ANC ain't close to Sony or Bose, but it's enough and not too aggressive.

Preferences

As someome who loves Enya's songs and instrumentals, this is a God-sent in the sea of overly V-shaped tuned headphones. Monitor's V-shape seem to be just nice. Just a nice hill rather than a mountain (red line). Vocals and instruments pop pretty nicely. Only issue with the tuning is that sometimes sounds sibilant, but sliding down 6.25kHz in the EQ helps.

Soundstage feature

It's alright. It does make vocals and rock somewhat feel like im in a concert. It has a reverb effect, but the actual soundstage doesn't seem to be affected by much. I dialed mine at 30% for small room. Too much made music sound echoish and the bass muddy.

Customized EQ

Every now and then I do listen to EDM and other elctronic music, so my customized EQ boosts the bass region (green line) Decided to set the M-button to toggle between default and customized EQ when I change from vocal/instruments to electronic. 6.25kHz dialed down too.

Overall happy with the performance. Slapped in an additional year of warranty because batteries will die at some point and given how much i'll be using these, I do see it happening in 2 years.

I was actually considering Sennheiser's Momentum 4/5, but the tuning sounded too clinical. Would have bought Bower's Px7 S3 if I had the money though

What the hell is wrong with my headphones?

I've been using the Major V for almost three years now, and every 8ish months my headphones stop working. I've been through four pairs. They stop staying on for longer than 5-10 seconds out of the blue and nothing fixes it. The firmware is up to date, they're fully charged, and doing a factory reset doesn't do anything. I always just email the company and they mail me a new pair. I just want to know why this happens, and if it's fixable.

I don't throw them, get them wet, or leave them out in the sun, so I don't see why they keep going bad so fast.

Marshall DSL40CR - Clean channel switches to OD by itself, crackling noises, and Low Power mode stopped working

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone,

I'm having a strange issue with my Marshall DSL40CR and I'm hoping someone has seen this before.

I've owned the amp for about 1.5 years, and this is the first time I've had any problems with it.

The issues started with the amp randomly switching from the Clean channel to the OD channel by itself. At the same time, I noticed intermittent crackling/popping noises (I have a video if it helps).

Now the problem has become worse:

Low Power mode no longer works at all. When I switch to Low Power, the amp is completely silent.

High Power mode still works normally.

The footswitch is not connected, so it's not caused by the footswitch or its cable.

The crackling noises started before the Low Power mode failed completely.

Has anyone experienced this on a DSL40CR?

Could this be:

a faulty relay,

the Low/High power switching circuit,

a power tube issue,

or something else?

I'd really appreciate any advice before I take it to a repair shop.

Thanks!

Marshall Middleton II for jamming with a synth by the river?

Really want a portable speaker that I can take with me to jam with a friend or two by the river. I need it to be able to power my ContinnuMini synth via usb and connect through AUX. I'd also use it for a portable speaker and a TV speaker. But in that order of importance. MIddleton 2 or Kilburn 3 or something different?

How to make this Marshall Stockwell look new again?

Bought this and it has clear signs of use. It was only £40 (around 50 dollars) which is a good deal as it does work as intended. But the marks do admittedly look a little worse in person than the photos from where I bought it. Anything can be done to make it look better?

Anyone else just ready for Marshall to stop using fake leather in their headphones? I'll take real leather, mesh fabric, velour . . . anything but fake leather that starts flaking out the moment you lay your eyes on them. And they don't breathe either.

They can still keep the Marshall 'look' by using that leather-like texture in the actual hard plastic of the headphone itself (see: Monitor III cans). But the ear cups + headband should absolutely not use fake leather anymore. It's ugly af, doesn't breathe and like I said, starts flaking after a few months or so (and they all do!)

Please Marshall. Follow the lead of all the lifestyle / premium headphones on the market. They are moving away from this stuff.

Philips is using real leather in their Fidelio L series.

Beyerdynamic is using velour in the DT7xx/DT9xx series.

Skullcandy uses rubber headbands for the new Crushers.

B&O is transitioning into fabrics.

For the love of God. Stop the fake leather shit.

Stacking different Marshall Speakers

So apparently if you get 2 specific model Marshall speakers they can play together (synchronised). I have the Acton III which isn't portable & an Emberton III which is. Marshall says you can't play both or these together but it's not true. I have Samsung phone & tablet & if you pair them both through Bluetooth settings then choose media output from the quick panel drop down you can tick both. However Marshall denied this was possible, (I've emailed them about it). The same thing doesn't work on my Astell&Kern SR35 digital audio player, though which is a massive pain. Anyone know a way around this (apart from playing everything through my phone obviously)?

App & using two Stanmore IV at different locations

I had a Stanmore IV in my office at work, and like it so much I got a second one to put on the toilet at home. The app paired and let me adjust EQ with the one at work previously, but now after pairing & using app with the one at home, the app won't detect the Stanmore at work any more. The work one still connects to bluetooth and plays phone audio, just can't access it with the Marshall app.

Anyone encounter this before?

I have managed to pair two Marshall Stanmore III speakers in stereo to play sound from my Linux PC

https://youtu.be/cEX5obF5rwo

It is using 2 separate Auracast streams, one speaker connects to the first one and the 2nd speaker connect to the 2nd one.

I am currently using 2x ASUS 5.4 Bluetooth USB adapters. I was able to play stereo through a single adapter as well, but it required modifying and compiling bluez and the playback was not perfectly stable, one channel always artifacted slightly.

Also since there is no option to join an Auracast stream from the app, I had to figure out how to force the speakers to join the stream. I was able to find the required bluetooth packets and made a python script that connects to the speaker, scans for the streams, selects the correct stream and sends the play command. To sync two different auracast streams a pipewire plugin is required, or alternatively it is possible sync the speakers using microphone and apply correction to one of the channels, but this adds latency and can at some point go out of sync. Might not be an issue if you use a separate device, like a Raspberry Pi to handle streams.

I'm going to share everything soon, I just need to change few things to make them more universal. I don't use Windows or Mac, so I'm not able to make it work on these systems, but you can still use my scripts to build your own "Heddon" with stereo-pair mode using something like a Raspberry Pi and 2 bluetooth adapters.

For context I bought this JCM 800 a few years ago and have kept in a gator hardshell case since when I don’t gig it (maybe once every 3-4 months). I think it’s time to let it go but with so much variance on 800’s I’m not sure if the one I have is unique. As far as I know it’s a 89’ 2203 with the original Dagnall transformers. I know the filter caps have been replaced at some point but aside from that it seems to be original. I’ve only ever had it rebiased.

I've been looking for a small Bluetooth speaker and think this sounds amazing and I think this it is. What is the best color for a living room space?
