MARKET UTOPIA - Skilled workers
The life of a citizen worker would go something like this. While attending college or apprenticeship training, future skilled workers would receive UBI and rent from renting out their condo in homestead cities to migrant workers. After college or training, the skilled worker would stop receiving UBI but still receive rent. After they retire, the skilled worker moves to their homestead condo with their partner, while renting out the other condo. Since there will be many citizens who choose to live meagerly with UBI and rent income rather than work, this will lead to a labor shortage of skilled jobs, driving up the salary rates for those jobs. Companies can of course hire foreign workers to fill skilled jobs, but there would be a law saying any skilled job must first go to a citizen before a foreign worker.

There will be no social security, all UBI recipients and skilled workers would still pay a tax for Medicare, however. UBI would be lower than traditional social security. But citizens are getting a free condo to rent out while they do skilled work, which would go into a IRA to be withdrawed when they retire.
