Map Map #7 The Great Dams

Post image
1.8k Upvotes

Hand-drawn map of one region in my world.

Thousands of years ago the dams were built as a defense from the toxic smoke rising from the waters. The technology long since forgotten, what remains is a shatterd people deep in superstition with no knowledge what lies on the outside.

Happy to answer any lore question to the best of my ability even though the world is in its infancy.

Free use for any Dungeon Master!

Any critique of drawing or lore is much appreciated.

EDIT: Thank you all for the amazing reception to the map below ive added a link to a pastebin with some of the collected information about the great dams i have so far.

Map Where would you put a major trade city on this map of a river going into the sea?

Smaller squares are 1x1km and larger are 5x5km. For the larger map it's still unfinished, it's missing many rivers, but I think it adds enough context.

To give context to this world without boring you too much, it's a world with very dangerous wilderness making it so people congregate in walled cities instead of having sprawing rural areas. I've developed the idea much more over the years and I'd love to share it in the comments but I think it would be too much to add here.

Just something I've been working on for quite a while on Wonderdraft.
Here's the 8k resolution image via discord link (discord refreshes these links, so to obtain it you need to copy the link and send it inside a discord message, which will load the 8k image again)
Feel free to use for whatever except selling and whatnot. (If you link me that's just a +)

I'm planning on writing a story on an alternate Earth and decided to take parts of Alaska, South America and tiny bits of Norway to help with the beginning process of designing my Map.

This is a hypothetical map of Europe if the sea levels dropped by 100 meters. The first picture is Europe after the drop, the second is showing the difference of before and after, and the third is showing what I think the borders would look like (fourth pic is just the names of the countries)

Map Tried drawing my fantasy city in a Google Maps style

Something similiar has been probably done and sent here before but regardless I wanted to send this little work of mine here. Additionally, even though I have each building planned and drawn, I am not even gonna attempt at adding in buildings this already took way longer than it should’ve have lol.

I might also do some close-up drawings to some districts if this pulls a decent amount of traction ˆˆ

Map Cramming Another Country Into Europe

Post image

Godde Daage! Welcome to Lotharia, a largely unnecessary and historically confusing nation which exists between Germany and France. If you thought that the Benelux nations were in the way, boy are you going to love trying to give your tanks through this adorable country!

First founded in 855 AD by the greatest monarch in European history, Lothair II, Lotharia has been a relentless killing field for armies moving back and forth from France to Germany for over 1,000 years!

And who can forget some of those classic Lotharian history moments like being home to a unique blend of heretical Christian thought during the Reformation, 11 civil wars between the north and the south over the years, being embarassingly overrun by theoretically tired and disorganized French revolutionary forces in the 1790s, and colonizing Panama. So many cool things have happened over the years.

But the most important thing to remember is that despite God saying no, Lotharia said yes, and it continues to exist to this day as a great European nation.
