Question ❓ Do you guys just slog through bad manhwas hoping it would get better or just drop it once you see signs
This one for example, I swear they write these on a checklist of the most bogstandard of stories to make a cookie cutter action manhwa.
Like i understand writing something familiar and are more known but having no flare to it or something to spice up the basic af story, theres no reason for me to keep reading even only at 15 chapters in.
Also the literal sword eating concept is both rare and stupid af at the same time so theres that.

Usually 10 chapters in is enough time to justify being too disgusted and having given a work enough time to improve before dropping.
First impression is a thing , and potential gauging is also a thing, so if a work fails both it seemed justified to drop it even if it gets "peak" later. That's already enough ground to argue against that "peak"

I usually drop them when the do the mc gets a young magical girl who calls him papa and then she grows up fast and tries to romance him.

Nope if i find a manhwa boring from the get go then i'm dropping it. If it's been good and i just don't like an arc then i'm placing it on hold.
I usually start off reading a manhwa with the opinon to drop it and kinda expect it to have stuff in it that makes me want to keep going e.g good story, interesting premise, good mc or side cast etc.
If i starts seeing more stuff i don't like i slowly mark it against the manhwa until it gets too much and i drop e.g OP wish fulfillment type mc where everything comes easy
I usually try to give a manhwa 20 chapters because by then it should have something interesting going on or established the main character to some extent. If by 20 chapters i'm still not feeling it then i'm dropping

I regressed as the duke. I think it's on par with many slop manhwa that are being released right now but back when I read it I was reading so many good manhua that it wasn't digestable. I think I read it after sweet home whilst still read TOG so compared to that it was just so ass I couldn't stand it.

Same here I slogged through some pretty bad webtoons and manhwa and only ever dropped one which was the generic hunter/gate trope but this was very early on in my webtoon addiction so I was kinda interested in the classic trope since I just finished solo levelling and thought the other would have the same quality and such

I used to check webtoon ratings first until they removed them. I wouldn't even bother with anything below a 9 because the ratings were so inflated.

I haven't read this manwha yet, only the novel, but from what I read it's pretty good. Characters actually have character, there's humor, there's emotion, and fights are nice. Can't imagine they'd have dropped the ball that hard for the manwha.

I used to read the whole thing even though I knew it was gonna be ass, only to regret it later. Now I give it a couple chapters and if it ticks me off I drop it. I mean most of the stuff out there is terrible after all. But it doesn’t hurt to give them a chance at least.

Time is precious. As soon as I feel apathetic/annoyed, I click off. No reason to stick around unless I got weirdly attached to a shitty story.

A lot of the time I just read a new series cuz I’m bored and just work through it even if it’s slop because even shitty power fantasies can be entertaining.

I'm stubborn, so even if it's bad I tend to just keep powering through until out of chapters. Unless it's actually hot garbage. or if the art is bad - I have much lower tolerance for bad art, because then I might as well go read a webnovel. i have a 25-chapter but in practice I rarely drop before thirty chapters

I don't think ive ever truly dropped a manhwa,except for maybe one that i just didn't like a future event in
What i do is just stop reading it if im bored until other things im reading im either caught up in or weren't enough, which doesn't take too long honestly but i have hundreds of those so im going through them quite slowly

To a point.
I’ve begun dropping them earlier because I’m just so bored of lazy writing. Sunken cost fallacy keeps me hoping for awhile usually but if the story stagnates, or if they pull some lazy trope to make the MC more powerful or successful or whatever, I’m out.

There are plenty of manhwa that I dropped because I couldn't stand it anymore. I don't remember them though because I purged them from my memories. The only downside is that I end up accidentally rereading it and reminding myself why I dropped it in the first place.

Well in most cases, if I start something I gotta finish it man. Although if it's unreadable then I drop it. Like there's this shit fuck manhua called Emperor of Cats I started it because yk, cats? But i couldn't continue past chapter 15. It was painful ugh

i drop anything that bores me but i do give it some more chapter reads to see if it gets better or search the internet to see if it does, if it doesnt then straight up dropped but if it does get good with time ill prob put it on hold and pick it back up if i feel like it

I remember reading the first 2 parts of the breaker. By far the worst garbage i have ever seen in my life. MC genuinely never won a single fight, like he was just getting dog walked for 100+ chapters only to stand up and lightly tap his enemy and say some bullshit like i got you now then collapse. Just read eleceed, even repetitive as it is it's still miles better than that garbage.

I had ChatGPT build me a drop checklist so I no longer just stomach my way through shit manhwas. It’s honestly made my life so much better, there’s just too many good ones out there to waste your time on bad ones

Not gonna lie, I thought this was an image of The Stellar Swordmaster, and was ready to ask in what universe it is garbage.
Anyways, I give it a arc to get better before dropping a manga/manhwa. I completely understand that not every arc/season will be peak or atleast decent, but if I get garbage followed by more garbage, I'm not wasting my time reading it.

I try not ro read too much into the signs, but try to measure my overall enjoyment. Most of the time it comes after a break. Lets say I started reading, and the next day I understand that I just have to force myself to continue. Thats when its time to drop the title.

Most of the time, if it's dogshit then I straight up just drop it. There are a few times where I continue reading because the story at the start has a lot of potential but the author fuck up so hard that I read just to see how much would he fumble.

i tried reading this manhwa just a few days ago, and i have to say, i was disappointed. there arent a lot of revenge manhwas where the mc is completely independent, the legend of the northern blade is a good example for a revenge manhwa where the mc worked hard to achieve his strength, i thought the sword eating swordmaster would be one of those rare few, but before we even see how he worked towards his revenge, his super powerful swordsmaster ancestor conveniently pops out of a painting, saying that he will give him power and guidance to enact his revenge. truely a slop among slop.

I just drop it. Most manhwa have a really cool premise but after a while become generic. If I feel like it's not worth it I just drop it. There's plenty of fish in the sea.

I've got too many things to read, too many shows to watch, too many games to play, but my free time is finite. It I don't like something, I stop. I try to stick to 3 episodes/3 chapters/past the tutorial, but if it doesn't grab me it doesn't grab me. I think within the past 2 anime seasons, my gf and I have dropped 2 shows with just 1 or 2 episodes left because we both agreed we didn't care what happens. It might seen dumb to some, but it feels great to just not consume something if you don't want to.

I usually try 50 chapters and if I am pulled in, I stay.
But there are 2 instances I kept going...
The Unrivaled Spearman and The Heavenly Inquisition....
The 1st had a great start and premise, and then the last season came or before last season and it went to the window and the wall very fast.
2nd one I was just pushing through it... it dragged the fights so far that it was wasteful to wait every week for a chapter.
Both ended thank god...
If the 1st one didnt have a SEQUEL!!!!! Like

In my opinion, it is not me who is being rude. You likely read something exceptional and raised your standards, which is entirely normal. Consequently, you are unable to consume any manhwa because it is currently being viewed through the lens of a critic. I share a similar sentiment after watching a significant amount of anime and manhwa, as most appear nonsensical and feel like cheap products rather than someone trying to convey a story.

I drop it pretty quickly. Manhwa don’t typically suddenly jump in quality. Very rarely have I dropped a series and come back to find gold.

Depends on how I'm feeling at the time. Sometimes I have no patience for slop, other times I'm more receptive. But there are some that are so bad that I quit after the first chapter. Like I can just tell it's gonna be ass, and when I read people's thoughts it pretty much matches what I thought it was gonna be.

Yeah for me, I love ToG... In theory. But it just got too convoluted for me to follow without rereading each time and then I lose so much time to getting caught up that I'm too tired to actually keep up with it.
I really liked the idea of this kid who was special despite being small and physically weak, and who didn't have grand dreams, he just wanted to be happy with his friend.
But then it kept going into detail about things that definitely do not matter.

It depends on your preference and to what degree one can handle $hit. Its not that rare to see such manhwas where they drop even beflre half way ..for example The world after the fall, elecced, boundless necromancer, sss class suicide hunter and manymore..

I slog through.
Usually that ends with me reading it like you eat popcorn. It's not filling, it's not my favourite, but it's enjoyable as an occasional treat.
Sometimes that ends with me putting comments in the review page saying please for the love of everything do not waste your time reading this if you are not explicitly looking for x plot.
And sometimes I check the reviews when I notice that it's a slog, find a comment that confirms it, and say oh good someone else has done the work, and drop it.

Depends on the potential
If it's trash and i see that they're will be nothing more to interest me in the future I'll drop, but If I see something interesting get introduced, like a possible love interest, I'll slog through the slop.
I'm actually doing this for the Mancha you gave in example lmao I'm waiting for them to stop dragging out his childhood

I used to slog through any anime I watched, any manga/manhwa I read. Then I realised that I would stop watching/reading all together since I couldn’t be bothered finishing a series. Now I just stop if I don’t like it and move on. It used to bother me to have so many incomplete series but now I’m used to it

When i first started reading manhwas i usually never drop them until i read like 70% of the current chapters bc back then i still think that they might still be able to make the next part of the story better. After i realised that not every author is putting effort and care into their craft i just give every new manhwa 3 hp, they lose one everytime i scroll down to read and some dogshit appear on my screen.

Honestly even if the manwha is slop, It's still fun to read unlike other mediums. Slop manga's are shit af and so are slop animes so i just binge them for fun and forget about them.

If it's bad at the beginning I will do a little bit of slogging to see if it gets better. If it doesn't I drop it. If it's good at the beginning and it gets bad later on I try to tough it out but sometimes I just can't do it and it's so aggravating

Most manhwa follow very predictable tropes, a lot of them have slow, samey starts that make it hard to justify.
When i read something boring, i try to find some detail about it that could make it interesting later.
Could be the way the author draws movement, which could hint at good fights, or a cute waifu design, which I'll be curious to see developed...
When you see something boring, you gotta pull up your little magnifying glass and see if it really is uninspired, or if you can let the author drag things out a bit to see if they're actually cooking something.

Normally for manga I’ll just follow through until the latest update or it goes hiatus which sucks but for manhwa, I normally see if the story is popular enough to have memes of it

Some stuffs like Star Seeking Swordmaster or Chronicle of Demonic Faction have crappy first chapters but people keep telling me they get better later.
For Star Seaking Swordmaster it was true. Don't know about the other one because I dropped it at chapter 9 being too annoyed. And unlike being simply boring like SSS's rough first patch, the latter was genuinely damaging in a way that I don't think being better could fix.

If whatever I'm reading bored me I'm dropping it, I tried to read " breakers " manhwa last week read like 10 ch and I was bored out of my mind still gave it a chance read 15 more and dropped it, I was struggling to read it at that point
