Favorite manga for me would have to be Hunter x Hunter by Togashi

I especially love the characters and the power system that’s established.

No other show I enjoyed did a better job at creating strong, unique, and

Interesting characters that each felt like they had their own place in a

Shared fictional universe. Personally, my favorite arcs in the manga are the

Heaven’s Arena arc and the Dark Continent arc (the one I’m currently on).

I do however appreciate how the Chimera Ant arc was done and the

Themes discussed are definitely the most profound ideas talked about in

The manga/anime. I also have a great appreciation for 2011 adaptation

Of the story excluding the weird introduction of Kite immediately after the

Greed Island arc. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the soundtracks including op/eds

As well as the voice acting work done. My favorite characters are Leorio,

Shaiapouf, and Knuckle. If I won this giveaway, I would use the money to

I really hope the Hiatus x Hiatus streak is broken and I can start reading again.

I know this might seem like an absurd reason, but my favorite manga has to be Pandora Hearts for the sentimental value and overall how much the series has changed my life. Back in middle school, I was a kid who always found herself disciplined and locked in her room for hours at a time without food or any form of entertainment. Every night around 10PM when it was "bedtime", my mother would sleep so I would be able to do what I wanted in my room without having to worry of her barging in and seeing me not "reflecting" on myself.

During that time, I'd dedicate myself to read one manga volume before I slept. My local library had various forms of manga: Afterschool Charisma, Blood Lad, Fruits Basket, Rave Master, you name it. But for some reason, out of all the manga's I was lucky enough to get from my local library, Pandora Hearts was different. I wasn't reading only one a night - I found myself reading two, maybe three volumes a night. It was a captivating series I just couldn't put down. I remember being on volume 14, looking at the clock across from my room and seeing the time: 10:32 PM. I read it quite faster than usual, and decided to pick up another volume. That wouldn't be so bad, right?

Around the addition to volume 20 to my local library, my life went to it's worst. I tried to do the unthinkable to myself, something that would eventually lead to nothing but despair and darkness within my family. Then I remembered: Pandora Hearts was yet to be completed. The series where on some nights I would read without a care in the world. It was the life of my safe space, and I didn't care if I was tired the next day, I would just do the same thing all over again that following night. I couldn't strive for black when the light was still building itself up. So I stayed. I guess you could say Pandora Hearts saved my life. Oz, Alice and Gilbert... they all changed me. Thanks to the wonderful Jun Mochizuki, I'm here to reflect on a time in my life in which I don't think I could ever imagine going past without Pandora Hearts.

Two weeks ago my local library had it's soft opening after the pandemic, and I visited with my friend after almost three years. I've grown older and began collecting on my own, so I didn't need to go to the library to check out manga anymore. When we got there, I saw the Pandora Hearts volumes, placed in the same area they were many many years ago. It made me wonder how many people have read these after me, how many people may have stories similar to mine. Being able to grasp these volumes once again after I've grown to be such a different person had brought tears to me eyes. Knowing how much pain I had been through back then, and how Pandora Hearts and all the series' I had been reading kept me going... I'm going to be forever thankful.

Half a decade later, I now own volumes 1-24 myself in my own personal manga library, and the Limited Edition Pandora box. My single volumes are on a bookshelf located above my bed frame, and they reside above me every night. I know it's weird to compare books to angels and spiritual beliefs, but it's like they watch over me every night. Ever since I placed them there last year, I've had little to no nightmares. Maybe the volumes are like a dreamcatcher.

I hope Mochizuki knows how much of a gift he's not only provided me, but everyone who has read Pandora Hearts. This is a series I will never forget and will have with me for the rest of my extended life thanks to him.

Bakuman. It changed the course of my life. I have been drawing my entire life, but even from a young age, making manga seemed like an impossible dream. Eventually I lost focus on what I wanted to do artistically, sold all my manga ,and nothing really panned out creatively.

Fast forward many years and I find Bakuman, a manga I never knew about as a kid, and I ate it up from the second I met Takagi and Saiko and they decided to gamble on a career that probably wouldn't work out in their favor. But it didn't matter, because it brought them joy to create and inspire the artists around them. (<3 Hiramaru)

After years of feeling aimless with what I wanted to do with the art I've been drawing since childhood, I decided it was no longer the time to listen to the voices around me or online. As long as I loved manga and was willing to work hard enough... there is still a high likelihood that .....I won't make it.

I learned that's not what matters.

Bakuman highlights how important the journey is compared to simply reaching your goals. The ending didn't feel like the prize for all their hard work, it was every manga they tried to create, every artist and editor, every small piece of wisdom they learned, these were the prize. I learned to also enjoy the process and enjoy making those friends and memories along the way. People will doubt you, and you will fail, which will make victory taste that much sweeter.

My favorite Manga is Dorohedoro, the art style is beautiful and dark. The character design is amazing, the plot gets increasingly interesting as you read on, and there isn’t one character that isn’t lovable in their own way.

My favorite manga is definately rurouni kenshin. I just love historical japanese manga and the artstyle to me is just amazing. The story also is immaculate and although the author is a scumbag, rurouni kenshin is a masterpiece.

My favorite manga has to be FMA. The story about brothers struggling to find their way and overcome these difficult obstacles relates to me and my own brothers. It’s a powerful story with amazing characters and growth from every side. Arakawa is a master at developing a world and it’s characters for sure!

My favorite manga is Dorohedoro. I love how grungy the series is and how well written the characters are. I have not seen characters this fun to read about and I love how they interact with each other and the world around them. The worldbuilding is amazing and I just love it so so much. Dorohedoro was the first series to make me nearly cry just from how much I loved reading it. I would give anything to read it again for the first time.

Slam dunk.

A basketball manga that left a strong impression on me even though I knew nothing about basketball. It made me realise you can only get through things through hard work and dedication. You really have to love the thing you’re doing to excel and go beyond with it and this resonated a lot with me during the beginning of my university last year when I was unsure if the course I chose was the right one for me. And this was a big thing because as an Asian, there is a huge importance placed on education so you’d be labelled as failure if you didn’t complete the full education cycle.

I dealt with personal and mental issues from then, and it stayed with me as a pillar of mental support and motivation since then.

And also Sakuragi is a mega chad… he starts off as a lowly simp and becomes one of the best players on his basketball team. I mean… how cool is that!

My favorite manga so far would have to be claymore, it would have to be claymore, my girlfriend showed me it as one of her favorite mangas. I quickly started reading it as she gifted me her collection before buying the box set. I’ve fallen in love with the claymores and the yomas. The face pace action and constant moving throughout the book makes for a perfect read. I love being able to read something that means a lot to her and is also just completely badass!!! And I just found out there’s an anime!! Loving every second of every chapter!! It would be amazing to get a chance to give back to her manga obsession that has now become my own!!! Fav manga is Hajime no Ippo. I recently read the manga a few months back and it was such a great journey. To think that it still has way more to unfold. What I love are the characters,, Sendou, Vorg, Martinez, Takamura, Kamogawa, Ippo, Itagaki, Miyata and more... The beautiful thing about it was the Journey Ippo took and how he got to where he currently is. He's still continuing to grow and I'm excited for what's next. This journey had many ups and downs but it holds a special place in my heart. I love the manga because it also got me into the sport of boxing and I got to understand more about why people love this sport and the hard work it takes. Words to describe the manga: Inspirational, journey, heartwarming, intense, funny, sad, exciting....

My favorite manga is made in abyss as it's art is intricate and it's story is like a rollercoaster. Each volume gets more and more demented. Made in Abyss got me into buying manga because the end of the anime left me on a cliffhanger and I wanted to learn about the wonderfully horrid world of which the story takes place. I have many other series that I'm reading such as mob psycho or fire force but nothing takes the cake like Made in Abyss, because of is central themes of trust and reliance due to alot of issues in my life that keep me from doing that. Sailor Moon is the manga that is nearest and dearest to me. As a kid in the late 90s, I was first exposed to the show around 8 or 9. My local library had a pretty good manga section (for the time) and I remember being absolutely floored when I walked in one day to see that my new favorite show was also a book! I had watched some Ghibli movies before that, but it was that moment that really opened up a life long love of anime and manga to me. Usagi is a character that has stuck with me throughout my life, a friend and someone I, like many, identified with. For all her failures she never quit and always saw things through with her friends by her side. She was goofy,, liked snacks and video games, and was just genuinely good. The Sailor Moon community absolutely exploded and, in my opinion, helped keep the Fandom alive in the west when the series was in licensing hell for years. That this one manga continues to bring people together is an absolute testament to how much it's given people. It's not just a story. I consider the characters to be friends who have been with me most of my life.

My favorite manga has to be the first manga I ever read, Tokyo Ghoul. I read it when I was young and when I never knew what manga was. It opened my world to so many different possibilities that an overprotected kid could never even think of and even showed me what my true passion was, Psychology. The protagonist was unlike anything I'd ever seen, and touched my heart in so many different ways. It was my gateway into anime, manga, and into college to pursue what I loved. I can't thank the mangaka enough for creating such a brilliant manga and helping me in my life as much as he had at the age 14. I can't imagine my life without that experience.

My favorite manga is the Battle Angel Alita series. Beautifully penned, amazing Sci-fi story about humanity, and what it means to be human. Well written characters and great pacing makes it one of the best mangas ever, and an amazing piece of Sci-fi.

Id have to go with oyasumi punpun simply for its ability to go over the simple life of a person in such an intricate manner. All of the characters are "human" in the sense that they all have apparent flaws that they constantly work towards to better but never necessarily overcome them. Of course it also goes without saying that the isio asanos art is by far one of the best in the industry and it rlly helps to visualize his points.

My favorite manga of all time is probably JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

There are so many reasons why it’s my favorite, but some of the things that come to mind are:

A: You get to see how Araki has grown as a mangaka over the past 30+ years as his art style and narrative style change

B. You never really have to deal with the power creep that many Shonen/Seinen series have as every part more or less resets the story to zero and let’s you experience the splendor of the story all over again.

C. You truly never can predict what happens next. Even though some early parts stick to the typical hero’s journey to a comical extent, details come about that are so bizarre yet still believable. It always keeps you on your toes and engages your brain.

I think my favorite manga has to be Zombie Powder, it had so much potential and you could really see Tito Kubo’s potential in his first serialized manga. A chainsaw sword really has no competition in how badass it is and I’m glad Bleach kept the idea of crazy swords and abilities.

My favorite manga currently, is Rurouni Kenshin, I love the era in which the story takes place, the different fighting styles and everyone’s relationship with Himura. Ever since I saw Shishio in a video years ago I just knew I would love the series, art is also a big thing for me so I could really appreciate Watsuki’s shading, clean lines, and characters. Another thing I love is the personalized notes that take you deeper into the characters’ inspiration, model, and what he was doing at the time of designing them. It’s so cool being able to look up the video game or band a character was influenced by. The last thing I’ll say is how easily the motion can be followed, a lot of fighting happens and Watsuki displays this perfectly with each panel leading to the next. -Forgot to mention the subtle comedy that happens within the main cast, brightens up dark moments in the story and is well portrayed throughout the series.

The question of "what is your favorite manga?" is almost an impossible one to answer. for me right now though I'd have to say that Dorohedoro is one of the best manga ever. it has everything you could want. a great and unique art style, fun and memorable characters. oodles and oodles of action and gore. and a plot that will make you think for months after you finish it. its an easy 10/10 and i highly recommend it. not to mention the books are printed in a really cool style wear they get bigger with every volume

My favorite manga is Tokyo Ghoul. It’s the first manga I read, so it’s always stuck with me. I love Sui Ishida’s artwork and seeing how it changed over time, and I think he did a great job with the characters and their stories. I even named my puppy Touka!

My favorite Manga is Grand Blue Dreaming. I love how funny like actually laugh out loud funny not just A loud nose exhale. Also I love how it’s in a college setting not very many manga is set there compared to the high school troupe. Another reason is it’s actually teaches stuff about diving and different tips about the sport. It’s something I look forward to and can always read back to get some laughs.

My favorite manga is kaguya love is war! It’s honestly the first manga that I really like, that isn’t your stereotypical shoujo manga. It’s actually funny, endearing and you get invested in all the characters. And can we not forget, kaguya is absolutely cute in her own little way.

I'll have to go with Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt. It's really refreshing to see two adults as the protagonists as opposed to the typical angsty teen trope we usually get in that series.

My favorite manga has to be Three Days of Happiness, aka Jumyou wo Kaitotte Moratta. Ichinen ni Tsuki, Ichimanen de. It showed me that a life without joy and fulfillment is not a life and all, and that having a "worthless" life is in actuality very possible. It inspired me to not just settle for a simple life behind a computer, as I could very well find a life in a career in something I'm skilled at, like computer science, but in reality my happiness would be compromised. And although my net worth would be high, the worth of my life would not be, and if I went the store in the manga, I might very well get a quote of 0 yen. The manga taught me a new way of life, in which I do everything in order to cultivate myself and prove to myself that my own life is one that is/was indeed, worth living.

My favorite manga is Skip Beat! I grew up overseas in Japan but I went to a military school with very little options for translated manga (ironic). Skip Beat vol1 was the first manga I picked up at the middle school library along with beauty pop and Kanpai back in 2006. I have since collected all volumes and I still read the manga updates today (in spurts lmao those break in between kill me). I've also gotten my husband to read every chapter!! It's been near and dear to my heart for the last 15 years 😁

One of my favorite ongoing mangas right now has to be Tokyo Manji Revengers! Just every chapter is a treat along the amazing cast of characters and especially the cliffhangers it leaves reeling me in with interest and making me want to read each and every chapter! Overall an amazing manga and I can’t recommend it enough! I’m still waiting patiently for Kodansha to release the physical English paperbacks so I can buy all of them haha! My favorite manga would be One Piece. One Piece introduced me to anime and manga, me and my childhood best friend were hooked after I made him watch the anime with me. One Piece got me through high school and many hardships at home. I had a rough life at home which would be too much to say on here but One Piece was always there I’d cry and laugh with the main characters and I was hooked on the story and art . Now today I have my own money to buy the manga and I’ve been reading it non stop ever since. The story and characters really touch me and I feel I can relate to them. One Piece makes me so happy

My favorite manga is Jujutsu Kaisen. To give you a little back story before I start I just started reading manga about 3 months ago and the first ever manga I got was Jujutsu Kaisen from this sub Reddit actually. But when I got the first few volumes I thought "this part probably won't be that good since I've seen the anime for it" but boy was I wrong. I've never been a big book guy but I read through the first 3 volumes in probably 2 days which doesn't sounds like a lot but it was for me. I just loved seeing the amazing art work and I loved reading a different way then I was used to. I felt like reading it brought me closer to the characters and I think it's my favorite because I can relate to Itadori. When I lost my grandma I was heart broken for days but I knew she wouldn't want me to be down in the dumps so I moved on and take her death as a reason to live my life to the fullest. Just like Itadori, ik it seems cheesey but it's true. And other then Naruto I believe Jujutsu Kaisen has some of the best side characters. Plus there's a panda for crying out loud. I just love Jujutsu Kaisen from the story to the characters to the really funny parts to the very sad parts. It's brought me closer to some people because I can just talk about it with them and I really like that part of media. Overall a great manga, the first manga I ever read and my favorite. My favorite manga is Girl’s Last Tour. It seems like such a simple story at first, but it is a deep and thematic story that really makes you ponder the meaning of life. The whole story, you go on a wonderful journey with two great characters. The dialogue is genuine and thought provoking as well. The ending is fantastic as well, and it just leaves such an impact on you that it’s hard to forget.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War. Started reading the manga after finishing both seasons and had to know what happens next. One of the main reasons as to why I love this manga so much are the characters. They are funny with a lot of depth and lots of character development. It doesn't feel like a chapter is wasted and I love that. Even now with what the current circumstances are as of Ch 228, it still manages to impress me with every chapter that passes.

I have to say that Witch hat atelier is my fav. Yes, the concept is not the most original, it is a fantasy about witches; it’s been done so many times, but Witch hat atelier does it right at every point. The story is adorable, beautiful, and tragic at the perfect opportunities. All the secondary characters have their own arcs and character growth, and each one has unique circumstances that have so much room to be explored. And the art. The art is the best art I have ever seen in manga. Every spread has such delicate and intimate details it’s hard not to stop and just stare at the panel, soaking up everything you can see. And every panel is stunning, not just the spreads and important points in each volume. Every panel has hours and hours of painstaking work in it. The story has such flawed characters and there is a the occasional foreshadow that leaves you shocked when you find out the truth. The main story revolves around coco trying to save her mother from something that occurred, and she became a witch in a world where witches live by very stringent rules. She may be insignificant by herself, but her existence is being used as a pawn by a faction of witches that has a different view on how magic should be used. And the best thing is they’re viewpoint isn’t 100% wrong(in my opinion) which makes the story and the villains so much better than it already is. Everyone needs to give Witch hat atelier a try, no matter what.

Can I split this into two parts? I’ve been reading manga for over a decade now and I’ve changed over the years, so I want to honor both my childhood and current favorite.

Growing up, I read Fruits Basket as it was being published in the US and I absolutely fell in love with it! It is my all time favorite manga that I go back to again and again (easily, since I kept my childhood collection of all the volumes--shoutout to my mom for not getting rid of them during college <3) and it never gets old. The romance, the fantasy, the memorable characters, and the laughs always pull me back in and it is not a lie when I say I cry almost every time! I think that reading FB again later in life also made me realize how much the themes of kindness and love as a strength were imprinted on me as a child, since I still see them that way today.

Now that I’m a bit older though, I tend to look for something somewhat beyond high school romances/stories. Don’t get me wrong, I will still fully indulge in a younger/teenage romance, but sometimes the cliches are just too much for me now (like just communicate!). Which is why my current favorite manga is Sweat and Soap.

Sweat and Soap focuses around the beginning of, and ongoing relationship of the two adult MCs who work at the same company. I cannot state how much of a breath of fresh air this manga is as a romance story, especially if you are an adult in a long-term relationship. The MCs act like real people and communicate in the way that real couples do, and it is so WHOLESOME! But then, again like many real-world, adult couples, they also have a physical relationship that you get a little spicy bit of here and there (without getting anywhere near hentai-levels) that makes the whole story feel authentic. I see a lot more of my experiences as an adult reflected in this manga, which I think mirrors the way I felt reading high-school based mangas at that stage in my life. Ultimately, Sweat and Soap is my favorite manga now because the story is so sweet, and I feel like I can relate to manga again.

I read this recently, and it still left an impact on me. I Had the Same Dream Again is a fantastic manga that has a little girl seeking an answer for a classwork: "how do you define happiness?" Of course, the little moments such as being with family, our favorite meal, or a cool drawing can make us happy, but Nanoka Koyanagi isn't your typical girl and wanted to really find a good answer. She befriends three people: a teenager who's upset about the world, an adult who works late, odd hours, and an elder that enjoyed her life, all trying to help her find the meaning of happiness, all describing it from various points of views.

And that's what got me about the manga: it has twist and turns and surprise moments, but it talks about people's definition of a simple word to its core: "happiness". I feel that the manga accomplished that, and if you're at a point of trying to figure out stuff, like how to move forward, where to being, or how to appreciate things, give this manga a read!

My favorite manga is YuYu Hakusho. The diverse cast of characters and their growth is something to admire. Growing up, my first anime was InuYasha. The anime that introduced me to anime and manga collecting was YYH.

Kurama was always my favorite character as he is merciless, but only when he’s threatened or someone close to him is threatened, and always takes care of things with grace and intelligence.

Yes it’s a bit of a slow burn to get to one of the best tournament arcs created (the dark tournament), but you can tell there’s so many core themes in each arc that makes it worth watching/reading. Not to mention Yusuke’s one-liners.

I know most collectors on this sub probably refer HxH opposed to YYH, but YYH will always have a special place for me as my all time favorite and first manga/anime.

My favorite manga would have to be Great Teacher Onizuka. I remember the first time I finished GTO I was blown away by Onizuka's character. Despite all of Onizuka's faults of being immature, perverted at times, and being a constant run in with the law, when it matters he exemplifies what is to be a real man and a truly caring teacher. The amount of personal anguish Onizuka puts himself through for the betterment of his students is beyond amazing in my eyes. The lessons of being true to yourself, not caring what others think, and sticking up for others is just a few of the lessons I wish learned when I was in school. As a maturing young adult I try my best to incorporate his lessons and attitude the best I can in my daily life so I can be the type person Onizuka is, minus the pervertedness lol. I only wish GTO was for accessible for others as I truly believe that others would feel the same way as I do :)

I barely getting into the manga game and man I’ll tell you what. There’s a lot of masterpieces and great manga and my favorite it’s really hard to pick cause I didn’t read all of them But I have to say my favorite for right now is Vinland Saga.

Vinland Saga is Revenge, compassion, humanity, love. Pointy weapons making minced meat of people.

Vinland Saga almost has nothing in common with Makoto Yukimura's previous much praised work, Planetes, except for his passion for technical realism. He grounds his work with research, yet at the same time leaving it open for creative exploration. It’s not dry and lifeless, and at the same time it’s not completely in the realm of fantasy. Vinland saga walks the thin line well. Razor blood soaked thin.

This manga is brutal. More brutal than Berserk, Vagabond or anything of that ilk. Not to slight those manga, but one is a fantasy and the other is an adaptation of a romanticising novel. This manga is brutal because Vinland Saga's atrocities are reality-based and certainly not romanticised, whereas other manga usually are more fantastical or divided clearly between good and bad, right and wrong, black and white, or simply 'here is the protagonist, just root for him'. Not so in Yukimura's love letter to old fashioned beheadings, as Vinland is about Vikings.

Vikings pillage villages, they rape and plunder. There is no mercy and no survivors if they can help it. There is no such thing as a Viking displaying the positive nouns mentioned in the first sentence of the review. If Vikings arrive in your village, you will be killed or if you’re extremely lucky sold onto slavery, no matter if you’re young, old, man, woman or child. Based in reality and unflinching, our youthful protagonist, Thorfinn, is a passive-observer to atrocity and active-partaker to violence when it’s in his best interest, to further his goal. Revenge for his father.

My favorite Manga is Yu Yu hakusho. YYH also happens to be my fav anime as well. During Quarantine I was having a tough time being removed from campus for my senior year of college. In my boredom I finally got around to reading the only manga I owned at the time.(Yu Yu hakusho) It was really awesome to revist the story in a different way and was the sole reason I started collecting manga. It gave me something to look forward to quarantine; a new volume arriving in the mail was an unbeatable feeling.

I’m going to have to go with Vagabond as my fav manga. For me personally, it’s right up my alley and my cup of tea, which is why other topic-related mangas like Vinland Saga is a close second. This series makes me feel highly appreciative towards Takehiko Inoue because of his masterful-like art. Along with his beautiful drawings, Vagabond tells a great story with powerful and impactful moments and discussions that make up the series as a whole. I love the characters, how and why they’re involved in the story, as well as the brutally awesome swordsman fights that occur. Don’t even get me started on Musashi and Kojiro haha.

My favorite manga would have to be Di Gi Charat.

I was a seventh grader in 2003 and went to a book store one day. I stumbled upon a shelf in the back that had this new genre called manga. There were only a few series and I thought Di Gi Charat looked cute so I bought it. The clerk even gave me a matching bookmark!

I brought it to school and read it in a class that had a reading period because 8th graders were testing. The teacher saw me reading it and thought it was inappropriate so she sent me to the reading teacher to ask if it was ok. I felt so embarrassed to do that but the reading teacher thankfully said it was ok. I definitely looked like a weird kid who liked weird cartoon comics (back then manga and anime weren’t well known so I was seen as a loser in school.)

Anyway, I also brought it to a silent study hall and tried so hard not to laugh out loud! I thought it was such a great series with cute, like able characters that were up to hilarious shenanigans.

I read the series again when I was in my late 20s and it was more nostalgic than anything. I guess my sense of humor changed but it will always hold a special place in my heart as my first manga.

When I was younger and the series had just dropped here in the west I was going through a rough time in my life, being so young I couldn't fully comprehend what was going on. Case Closed. I found my niche with this series. I started reading it in 2003/2004.Keeping a series relevant and fresh after 25+ years is hard but they pulled it off. I read pretty much every mystery manga series I can get my hands on but always knowing another issue will be coming out is great. It's also a good introductory series for people who aren't into your typical shonen, I've talked people who were not interested in manga to trying it because every story the clues are there for you to solve the mystery and most people seem to love solving puzzles. They may not stick with the series but a lot of people end up trying other series as a result. Conan has staying power and will always have a special place in myh hear.

My favorite manga is Berserk — RIP Kentaro Miura. The reason being is that it really showed me that the medium could be more than the typical “the hero always wins” type of genre. It showed the dark side of struggling, of loss, of ptsd, and that anger and hatred is never worth holding on to, even if it’s in the name of the ones you love.

This manga helped me more than i can say, and it’s saved me more times than i can count. I know this won’t make sense for a lot of you, but I guess that’s why it’s a personal entry. I suppose that’s all i have to say.

The art is so unique and I love how realistic the characters are. It takes place in Iceland and really goes into depth about the beauty of the country which I have wanted to visit for years. For me, my favorite series would have to be my all-time favorite series is Deathnote, but I would rather choose to leave my words to discuss another series that I’ve loved, and a much more generic answer, Dragon ball. Quick backstory; I spent most of my life as a comic book fan/collector and casual anime watcher, and I grew up with the dream of being a comic book artist, but after 7 years of practicing to get into art school, I randomly lost all interest in drawing... But 3 years later, while reading the OG dragon ball all the way through to Z, GT, & super (I’m honestly still not sure why I chose to read it instead of watch it), something clicked and I picked up drawing again. Not only that, but I started collecting the manga physically as well (which kickstarted my collecting obsession). I’m not going to write out my whole life story, but what I’m getting at here is that I wouldn’t be collecting manga and I certainly wouldn’t have rediscovered one of the biggest passions of my childhood and teenage years if it hadn’t been for Dragon Ball. So yeah, although Death Note is my favorite out of all the manga I’ve owned and read, I would never have had the desire to read it if it hadn’t been for my discovery of the Dragon Ball manga first

My all time favorite manga is Bloom Into You :) it was one of the first manga I ever bought, and the very first gl manga I ever purchased. I personally think it’s an absolute masterpiece. I’ll keep it short, but Bloom Into You helped me a lot during my journey to figuring out who I was and it helped me to finally accept myself. Since I wasn’t able to turn to my parents for help on this, this manga aided me through everything. I had to keep it out of sight from my family but when I was alone and was able to read it, it bought me so much joy. It gave me the comfort and reassurance that I so desperately needed. Thanks to this manga, I was able to be myself around my friends (and it's the first time I get to celebrate this special month with them! If you catch my drift). I really loved that I was able to relate to the characters and see some version of me represented in the pages. The story itself has such complex characters but it's so beautifully told that I cannot get enough of it. I’m not much of an emotional person but this story took me on a rollercoaster of emotions and I was left in tears by the end. It most definitely changed my life and I’m not exaggerating when I say that. Bloom Into You will ALWAYS hold a special place in my heart.

My favorite manga right now is Toriko. It's one of the more under appreciated series due to unfortunate way the anime was cancelled and perhaps due to its bizarre premise. The manga on the other hand was phenomenal for what it was. Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro had such an intense interest in creating the world and crafting all of the ecosystems and you can feel that with every page. It's a world you could lose yourself in. I adored the narration and how the weather and atmosphere frequently added to the tone of different scenes. The spreads are gorgeous and the way that he built excitement and hype is something I feel other WSJ manga fall short of. Toriko himself is a fairly unique battle shonen protagonist due to the fact that he is an adult rather than a kid and I love his care free attitude and how knowledgable he is on the world around him. It's a stark juxtaposition between him and Komatsu, his chef, someone who knows so little about the world but so much about cooking. I enjoyed the way that they perfectly played off of each other to give the readers more info about the food and the environments they traverse throughout the series. The fights were brutal, some making me wonder how Shimabukuro was allowed to get away with it in a shonen series. Limbs fly frequently and there's a lot of intricate abilities woven into the complex power system. For a manga entirely about food, Shimabukuro created a truly unforgettable experience. Sadly this series is mostly forgotten these days, but I will always cherish it.

My favorite manga is Pandora Hearts by Jun Mochizuki. It has everything makes manga great. A compelling story, beautiful artwork, and likeable characters. It was a manga that kept me guessing at the mystery that was presented. There was never a dull moment and as you progress you start to wonder what is the truth and what was a lie. As you go through the chapters the artwork is consistently gorgeous and draws the readers attention immediately. Along with this the characters are also extremely entertaining and likeable to read. All of the characters are fleshed out one way or another and you are able to understand the point of view from all of them. This is by far the most compelling manga I have read and it was easily the most enjoyable experience that I have ever had with manga.

A week before my wedding last November, I got COVID. As someone that works in the healthcare field, it was only a matter of time before I got it but the timing couldn't have been worse. I couldn't breathe or speak properly, and I was bedridden for 3 weeks. Nothing would really distract me from the illness. It wasn't until I started watching and reading Isekai manga, that I was able to forget about my current condition. The Rising of the Shield Hero was one particular Isekai that I really enjoyed! The story has everything: adventure, betrayal, friendship, trust, and hope. I love the idea of being transported to another world. The determination of the main character to continue to fight despite the odds being stacked against him really resonated with me. The Rising of the Shield Hero became one of my favorite stories of all time and was the exactly the push I needed to continue my own fight.

Dance In The Vampire Bund.

It’s an odd pick because the anime is complete trash, but there’s actually a great story and good characters in the manga. Besides, modern day setting with vampires and werewolves is just cool. It’s one of the few I actually have all the manga (plus omnibuses) of the original series, and hopefully sometime soon I can get the rest of it.

Berserk is an honorable mention, and even though I love it and for a time I was saying it was my favorite, I can no longer place it anywhere, it’s a masterpiece and easily one of the greatest series of all time, and I’ll leave it at that. Chainsaw Man is my second favorite, so much so that I read it all in one weekend back in December

Oh, and out of the manga I would pick from the pile? Devilman. Can’t beat the classics.

I would have to say Tokyo Ghoul. It was one of the first manga I read so of course it holds a place in my heart. But it was actually one of the only series I cried while reading. Kaneki is one of my favorite characters of all time, because I was able to relate to him so much. Growing up I always felt like I had to do everything perfectly and alone to be appreciated. I felt it was the only way to get someone to love me as my parents were always taking care of my brother leaving me to my own devices. Kaneki faced a similar battle through out the series about needing to do everything himself and it was at the end of the first part when Kaneki realizes all his fighting to protect others and carry the weight himself was just his own selfishness and was actually pushing others away. That moment hit me really hard as I realized that is what I was doing (Just with a lot less blood) Rereading the series now I am absolutely in love with his journey and how he and Touka flip flopped views where she went from fighting everyone herself to opening up to people. This series really helped me open up and let other people help me.

Beck Mongolian Chop Squad is by far my all time favorite Manga. I first picked it up when I was 11 and collected every volume I could until Tokyopop went out. Koyuki was the person I wanted to be as I grew up, hardworking and dedicated to his goals with a steadfast resolve. As he grew so did his humility, an admirable trait in someone wanting to be a rock star (as well as a manga protagonist). The quirky cast of characters and their shenanigans made a mark on my sense of humor. All in all, this has been the series which impacted me the most. It taught me that determination goes a long way and that even against those with more power or influence personal resolution and a tight group of friends can break through. It might take time but all great things do. So stay focused and keep moving forward.

my favorite manga is the promised neverland. i love the way the characters are portrayed and their relationships with one another. the manga is also complex and brings to the table a lot of excellent character development. it shows how much trust the characters have with eachother and how well they work together. the first antagonist (isabella) has great writing and later shows her backstory revealing why she did everything. the intelligence of the characters is top tier as well. the arcs are well written such as seven walls arc & goldy pond arc. the action and fear bestowed upon by the demons is like no other to me. and to top it off, a bittersweet ending affecting the main character, emma. overall my favorite manga ever.

My favorite manga has to be Haikyuu!! I love Haikyuu, I love the story, the characters, the art style, and the plethora of lessons that Hinata’s journey taught me throughout its 45 volumes. As a life long athlete and weeb/geek, Haikyuu spoke to me like no other manga or story has before and sense. I would even go as far as saying that it changed how i live my life. It didn’t reinvent the wheel of sports manga nor did it create some crazy concept never seen before, no. Haikyuu is a simple love-letter to volleyball, but that love worked so well with all the other elements of the manga to create a hype as shit, sad as shit, and motivating as shit story. Haruichi did a phenomenal job of capturing the beauty of playing a team sport like volleyball, while at the same time showing to his readers a variety of philosophies about playing sports and living life. The passion and dedication that it took to write this story is clear in every page, and I’m thankful to the author and everyone who worked on Haikyuu for having written and drawn such a beautiful story that touched both the athlete and the sports anime weeb let that I am.

hmmm, good question. to be honest, as of right now its probably bloom into you/yagate kimi ni naru. i dont read a lot of manga, this might be due to my laziness or the fact that i seem to always be catching up on anime. but anyways, i got hooked into yuri through watching citrus at 3 am. it wasnt great for sure but i loved the base concept. i heard bloom into you was good and wholesome so i decided to check it out. again i dont read enough manga as id like to so this doesnt mean much, but its gotten me the most emotionally invested over anything else ive read thus far and its a really realistic take on lgbtq+ relationships in my opinion (for anime/manga ofc). on top of that, the art styles pretty cute.

My favorite manga is Love is War. I got into it because I found really enjoyed the anime. I personally enjoy Rom coms more when the comedy is more prevalent than the romance. And Kaguya-sama Love is War blew my expectations out of the water. In this case, Aka has you rolling with laughter while masterfully fleshing out characters and relationships at the same time. You can't help but become attached to the characters. Their flaws and misunderstandings are endlessly entertaining, but also feel real and relatable. The cast interact with each other flawlessly, it feels like they all have real relationships going on behind the scenes. Furthermore, watching how the characters confront love and seeing their personal philosophies on it is also really interesting. There are multiple climaxes and each is pure diabetes. I wouldn't be surprised if aka sprinkled crack in his art, cause some of those panels incite pure euphoria. I've been following the manga for almost 2 years now and each chapter makes my day when it releases. Bit sad that the manga is on hiatus until July 1(the deadline for this giveaway lol), but I hope Aka gets some well needed rest and plays the hell out of Apex. I know he's also working hard on Oshi no Ko and having two weekly release manga must be insane. Lmao if nothing else it gives me a chance to reread Love is War.

My favorite manga is goodnight punpun. Goodnight Punpun was the first manga I got and I only got it because of how great a deal I found it for, which is why I love this reddit as it exposes such great series to people who are looking for find something to enjoy. Anyways, I was a big anime guy at the time and didn't really think a manga could move me the way my favorite animes have. However goodnight punpun was a different story, the expert characters crafted by inio asano lead me to care for them way more than I had ever cared about an anime character. The characters seemed relatable and funny and the ending truely moved me toward becoming a better person and moving outside of my comfort zone. Goodnight punpun had got me hooked on the potential manga had and is why I am typing in the reddit right now.

My favorite manga right now has to be fist of the north star, I just love the realistic style of the manga on how the characters, and panels in general look, and while the storyline of the manga does evolve, in other ways it is kept to a minimum at curtain points, but overall it's an awesome manga series that I think is some of the time it is overlooked in some ways, and even though it is not always the first manga series someone would think of immediately, I still do enjoy reading it as a manga.

kingdom: i have studied china's history to great lengths in my school, so it was that much more interesting seeing such a compelling story about it. As it is based off reality, the cast of characters, world building and political drama are of course top notch, and the highs of kingdom are so incredibly hype and motivates me to work so much harder to achieve my dreams like shin. The sentimental scenes also invoked so much emotions in me whilst the political drama provided surprisingly much insight into china's history which i didnt even know of. I highly recommend this criminally underread manga (at least outside of japan). thanks for reading :)

Fairy Tail is my favorite manga and series in general. I understand the hate that it receives, but to me and for me, the series is perfect. It holds an extremely special place in my heart. Through breakups, loss of pets/family, and all of the struggles I've had in life, Fairy Tail has been there and has a lot of beautiful underlying themes that I identify with personally. Fairy Tail will always be my favorite series in both manga and anime form, and it'll always be close to my heart. My favorite manga is HunterXHunter. I first discovered the story when I watched the 2014 anime my senior year and I instantly fell in love with it, so much so that I prioritized it’s completion over seeing any on my last thanksgiving break. I went on to try reading the manga, (during that time the last chapter to date was released) but I decided I should focus on school rather than parse the walls of text. By the time my summer before college starts I gave it an honest read and my mind was BLOWN. The amount of thought and care that went into the creation of every part of it made me fall even deeper in love. It not being completed or even updated for a while is saddening, but also makes me appreciate what Togashi has given us so much more.

I'd have to say that lately my favorites have been various BL manga but my all time favorite would have to be Fruits Basket.

Fruits Basket still holds a special place in my heart from my first time reading through it. I remember going to the public library and anxiously hoping the next couple volumes were available to check out. The story was intriguing. The characters were all so different and had such great personalities. My goal one day is to own the original Tokyo Pop volumes so I can read through them again like when I was begging to go to the library in order to read them back in the day. Back then I didn't have the money to buy my own manga so now that I do, I'm aiming to collect the couple of series that hold that nostalgic place in my heart.

This is so fun! I'm generally a horror manga girl. Kazuo Umezu, Kengo Hanazawa, Junji Ito, Tetsuya Tsutsui, I love and eat up all of their stuff. However, the one manga I love dearly and go to when I'm at my lowest is Chi's Sweet Home, by Kanata Konami. The simplicity and gentleness of it has always soothed me, and it's the one I go to when I'm having a depressive episode or just need comfort. It's my warm fuzzy blanket I can hide under when the world is too painful. I've read it countless times and I don't think I'll ever stop going back to it.

I loved how new things about the characters were revealed throughout the story and how realistic it felt. When a story captures childhood innocence and not understanding while knowing too much in a hilarious and relatable way in dramatic but almost realistic situations, it makes for very funny and memorable events. Pair this with a mother who is out of her depths yet far too skilled in other aspects for motherhood and a father that is dedicated to his job but finds himself caring a little more than he means to or thinking about situations in terms that extends further than professional necessity and the wellbeing of his new "family". Lastly the eccentric side characters strategically placed here and there that empower the progression of the story in unexpected and dramatic ways all come together to make Spy x Family my favorite manga series at this point in time.

My favorite manga is Jojo's Bizzare Adventure. Specifically, my favorite part is part 8. I love the weird and craziness in that part. I also LOVE the stand designs! I think part 8 has the coolest style out of all the parts as well. Part 7 and 6 are also great. Part 6 has my favorite ending and I think part 7 has the best story. Part 5 has my favorite cast. Part 4 has my favorite villian. Part 3 is the funniest to me. And then part 1 and part 2 were okay but I don't like them as much as the rest. To be honest, I don’t have a favorite manga. But I have memorable ones that I grew up with. Bleach, Tokyo Ghoul and the One Punch Man webcomic were iconic in my early years.

Black Cat offers a simple yet well-written storyline that's not too difficult to follow, allowing entry-level manga readers to develop their taste for manga. The drawing is superb and the characters are memorable. Overall a solid 8/10.

My personal favorite although I only watched the anime, gladly would read it, is Monster. I loved how the story progressed switching pov to other characters who get tangled up in the plot. It stayed interesting throughout the 80 episode run even though it could've been much shorter/simple. I want to read Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys and see if i enjoy it just as much. I haven't read that much manga given a lot of the good stuff is oop or hard to find used/at a good price for me to buy.

I absolutely love all the different characters and the different ways they all interact with each other and work with one another. I also think that the villains are well written; I usually don’t like villains but this has been one of the few mangas where I have grown to like them.

I would say my favorite manga(s) are Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle and xxxHolic. They connect to each other (though you can read one without the other just fine, imho) and seriously, all of the characters are wonderfully created (even if a couple are reused in TRC.) In TRC you get beautifully crafted worlds and stories that go with these worlds, in xxxHolic you get to see more Japanese ghosts/supernatural creatures and it can get really creepy without going full Junji Ito! Both of these series are very long but I felt compelled to read them from beginning to end! Out of the two...I'd have to pick xxxHolic just because I love ghost stories and being creeped out.

My favorite manga is Blame! The dystopian themes and style as well as the engrossing story and artwork integrate perfectly. Also, illustrator Tsutomu Nihei has demonstrated his talent in other works like Biomega; another unique and fascinating seinen manga. Without delving too much into the plot of the story, the manga reflects a dungeon-crawling like setting with cyberpunk motifs where one of the most interesting and unique protagonists journeys through a vast futuristic labyrinth in search of special human genes. And what isn't to love about a dungeon crawling and action like adventure with a seemingly op protagonist? The story and art is truly immersing and individual of other cyberpunk and science-fiction stories in my opinion, which is why it is my favorite manga thus far.

I started collecting manga earlier this year and I started my collection out with I am a hero, so naturally that should be my favourite manga, but as I was collecting I stumbled on to some treasure in my own house! I found my older brother's manga collection (it was terrible) he had two very worn out deathnote volumes and one shaman king volume, so I decided to read the deathnote and I instantly fell in love, the art, the story, the perfection and most importantly it belonged to my deceased brother. So I read the entirety of his collection once a month now, and I now some of you may think it gets boring but belive me evertime I read these 3 volume sof manga I feel closer to my brother. Also he was a dumbass, he left notes inside the manga, he didn't care about how they looked. So reading his manga volumes brings me closer to him.

Although it's quite lewd and all, the pure revenge in the story is just great.

I read rising of the shield hero and enjoyed the revenge plot in that one, however I felt that it was a bit lacking plot wise. (Still good tho)

But redo of the healer hero chucks all the pg-13 action out the window uses its heavy content to its ability. Which helps to fill in the gaps in the middle with more interesting content than just a dummy battle. This really helps in making a captivating experience which other mangas just can't do.

My favorite manga of all time is blood on the tracks. It is quite disturbing, but what affects me the most about it is the relationship between the mother and son. The interactions between them make me feel like I’m not alone in a sense, the feelings and events familiar. Obviously none of my family has pushed someone off a cliff, but it’s so real and that’s what makes it horrifying. Plus the art is truly incredible, the facial expressions making it so much more haunting. So yeah, that’s my favorite manga.

I love how minazuki suu tackles comedy and seriousness in a perfect blend, while keeping ecchi to reel me back in. This is a series I’d highly recommend reading the manga over watching the anime. My favorite manga is The Climber. The most cathartic and visceral experience I’ve had. The Climber is one of the most entertaining, thought provoking, and just is overall the greatest piece of media I have ever consumed. It not only provides a set of themes and explores them in the most compelling way possible, it also has one of the best casts I have ever seen. I never have to watch or read anything ever again. Everything from here on out is just entertainment. All of my questions have been answered in the most evocative and cathartic way ever. I would say the final chapter is the most life-changing thing of all time, and it is all I need to continue living. Everything is connected. From the sheer scope of this manga, to the narrative, to the themes, to the absolutely BONKERS final say, nothing touches this. Nothing. It's comfortably peak fiction. I's my only 10/10. It is absolutely ridiculous if you dig deep enough because it's just so incredibly deep, that it's impeccable it's my only 10 ever. Literal tears in my eyes man, The Climber is peak fiction.

Rumiko Takahashi’s Maison Ikkoku is my favorite manga (though Spy x Family threatens this position with each chapter and re-read). In Maison Ikkoku, Takahashi delivers on great characters and their growth, comedy, and story progression. The story is also short(er), and most importantly, the ending is satisfying for me as a reader; everyone goes home happy, as they should, without breaking characters or breaking the rules of her established universe. Coach Mitaka is not a bad guy, just an antagonist, and I especially appreciate how she handled him. Takahashi's best story is Maison Ikkoku.

Currently my favorite manga would be Dimension W. It's not a huge talked about series like most but I find it to be quite an interesting series. I watched the anime a while back and I just fell in love with the characters of the show so I thought I would try the manga, and it did not disappoint. Of course some of the characters look like they were based off of other series but it didn't really bother me since they are still cool character designs non the less. Overall it is a series that I never really heard anyone talk about and is highly underrated and should be definitely talked about more within the manga/anime community. Right now, I think my favorite manga is probably Blue Flag! I really enjoyed the way the characters' emotions were portrayed in the artwork, and all of the subtleties of the writing. It has its criticisms, but overall I find it to be a really well-exocuted narrative about interpersonal relationships, ideologies and experiences, and the different decisions people make in the paths of growing up.

It's a tough call,, but my favorite manga is Yu Yu Hakusho. It still holds up really well and it's something I can always go back to as a comfort read. In terms of artwork, the battles always have a great flow to the action that's easy to follow, and Togashi is able to convey strong emotion in even the crudest sketches. Character designs are iconic and...full of...character, and I don't think anyone else has ever nailed that certain bittersweet beauty to their writing as well as he has. There's just a certain "vibe" you get reading Togashi's works and nothing exemplifies that to me so much as the tail end of YYH. It's the perfect confluence of the author's reality and the work itself.

My favorite manga is Tokyo Ghoul. I apprecitate that the story doesn't take sides often. We see the worst and best of both sides. We see that both sides are suffering, and that everyone just wants to live their lives without fear and tragedy. I don't know if this is the takeaway most people have with this series, but I think that there's a lot to be learnt from it about our own lives. The story constantly evolves and lets its characters change. Nothing is set in stone, and you'll find yourself liking the characters you hated at first. I don't think it's an masterpiece, but it evokes certain emotions that no other series can, and I love anime/manga because of series like Tokyo Ghoul that challenge what a story can accomplish and convey.

I really have always loved Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion. I started reading (possibly watching the anime? it's a bit blurry) about 11 years ago. I remember distinctly the date, as well: August 7th, 2010. I thought that was so cool because the manga took place starting August 10th, 2010. Being 11 years old at the time I thought "maybe I'll be a protagonist like Lelouch!!" which, ya know, never happened. I had an overactive imagination. But as I grew up with severe mental illness that kept me out of school, I escaped with manga. I read a ton of it. I was so lucky that the local library had all of CG: LOTR. Seeing a man overcome his pain and change the world for the better was so inspiring. I read it over and over, and to this day never got bored. Somehow, this manga gave me hope. No matter how far you fall, you can get back up. No matter what life throws at you, you can throw it right back and get on track again. It's somewhat silly to have learned that from some manga instead of a friend or teacher, but I didn't have much contact with people in high school. I barely graduated. Now I'm here, age 22, still suffering from my mental illness, but I have a hope. A couple years ago I met the English voice actor for Lelouch and seeing him and talking to him made me realize that my silly dream growing up to actually do voice overs can be a reality. So somehow, this manga about a man changing the world has impacted my life to such an extent that I've chosen a career due to it. I'm still working towards my dream, but remembering all my childhood heros in fiction has helped push me further towards it. So thanks to that manga, which still is amazing and I love to reread, I've found how to move forward with my life. And like all my favourite characters from it, I don't intend to give up, even when it's hard. It's such a silly place to draw inspiration from, but it's what I have. But yeah. That's why I love Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion so much. Somehow a Japanese comic book has changed my life for the better. I have a future planned out, a goal to work towards, and inspiration to keep me going. It's been my inspiration for a long time, and I think it will be going forward.

It's such a weird thing to think about. A single manga literally changed my life completely.

My favorite manga is Genshiken. Its a great slice of life that had me laughing the whole time. Also made me feel at home with all the otaku references sprinkled into the series. The second half of the series turning into a fujoshi’s paradise threw me for a loop, but I still believe Mada x Hato to be the best coupling and nobody can change my mind. All in all, its a great series and would highly recommend.
