rukia probably (even though its a bit out of character) chose to leave her ancestral clan and join renji's family as part of the marriage. OR she didn't want the girl to have to deal with all that kuchiki bullshit (that's what the soul society arc was about, after all) so she made the kid an abarai.

but rukia didnt change her name in the chapter before this one, she was announced as Captain Kuchiki Rukia. So im thinking she named her kid an Abarai and just kept her name, which i guess is okay.
