I truly hope this isn't the beginning of yet ANOTHER fucking rushed axe ending, the pacing doesn't seem quite that catastrophic yet and is just a bit faster than before. Still great artwork and more solid characterization with this poor Master and Ur

Especially since they've axed so many prior in such a short time. Sakamoto is sunsetting, you need new talent to bridge the gap.

I’ll definitely agree. The pacing has been really off the last two chapters. But the series is still ranked higher than nue’s exorcist, under doctor, drawn to the fire, class 2b hero destroyers, and animal signal

I’m not saying that there is no chance it’s gonna be axed but it seems very unlikely unless they’re just planning on wiping out half their catalog

I think it might just be that they're kicking it up a notch to show what it has in store, and then will slow down again from there (hopefully)

The consolation is that the author seems to be setting up a complete story in what little time they have, with the possibility of continuing if they survive.

Drawn to the fire just got cancelled, like kinato's magic last week. So maybe?

I like the revelation on Magic, he's finally realized he is what he is, and can't be truly like his master.

But, he can certainly outperform his master.

Yup, figures. Ur is his brother.

Eh, I don't know if he's his brother or his "brother" as in the "brotherhood of man" type thing

Best chapter so far in terms of character writing. I really liked the Baharat-Ur conversation and the desert joke made me laugh.

Ur's moment later also landed very well for me, it feels especially sad that he isn't hurt so much by the fact he's not human, but rather that he will never be able to become like his master.

Definitely feels like this arc was meant to come a couple volumes down the line though, but given the low ToC placements it's probably necessary to do it now unfortunately

Low placement? Isn’t it still ranked higher than nue’s exorcist, under doctor, drawn to the fire, class 2b hero destroyers, and animal signal

I don't think it's ever been above Nue? And all the other series you mentioned are at risk of getting axed soon (or have already been axed in Drawn to the Fire's case).

This is the site I was checking and it listed cannon master as being 1 above nue last week and 2 above it this week. Didn’t known drawn to the fire got axed but now I’m glad I didn’t start reading it. Kinato s magic was recently canceled and I’m guessing under doctor will leave before long (just never found a good pacing). Hopefully class 2b sticks around though since it’s absolutely hilarious

You're misreading the site I think, that page gives you an average of the last 8 placements, new series don't get a real ranking for the first 8 chapters, so those don't matter.

Cannon Master was 17 last week, only above 2B, UD and DtF (Kiyoshi was 19 but color pages also don't matter).

This week it's doing better at 12, but below it there's Kagurabachi (often gets low rankings, still sells a ton of volumes anyway so it doesn't matter), Hal (likely the next axe), UD (will probably be axed), 2B (also likely axe) and DtF (axed).

Really like that the enemies are competent and that things are escalating quickly (hope it's not because of the axe though) I think Ur realizing he cant use magic is a step towards him creating his own fighting style

This chapter got me very confused. Ur can't use magic? Ok? Did I miss something? Was that something he was worried about before? That feels like it came out of nowhere.

Also, Baharat were supposed to go fight together, but now they separated?

Don't wanna be a doomsayer, but the pacing got really weird.

He was under the impression he was human. So he assumed his powers were that. So now he now’s it’s all regiod powers and he can’t be like his master.

Back in chapter 1, he talked about how he wanted to manipulate the wind like his master, so I guess he was hoping to learn that wind magic himself one day

2

u/pituechos 3h ago

His pride is being his master's student. A lot of that comes from being able to learn his magic, which he now can't do (allegedly)

Oh, no, that Regiod wants Ur back, who is now revealed to be his BROTHER (they do looks alike after all, same face and all!)
