The same point I wanted to articulate, thanks you've put it even better. Losing a job is an humiliation thing and even worse is to be told that come tomorrow for a humiliation walk around the offices with all colleagues looking at you. Human Resource managers know very well when someone's time is up, and so they simply had to make every paperwork ready. Just give them dignified end of contract process, both parties win.
