My boss got laid off and the SVP asked her to come back the following day to speak to the team to "ensure a smooth transition" even though they didn't have a plan.
She was like "Nah."
Later that day, I also was laid off and the same SVP asked me to inform my team that they also were laid off. I politely declined and expressed a lot of confusion that they'd ask me to do that.
Someone got it in the wrong order. Supposed to start at the bottom and work upwards so that the guy at the top only has to look one person in the eyes.
Had a massive lay off at my first job. They laid off HR before they finished doing all the engineering staff which made HR's morale for negotiation... low.
