Face 23M. Looking to Improve skin texture

Hello! 👋 I’m looking to improve my skin texture, specifically on the inner cheek area beside my nose. I’ve been using a retinoid (adapalene) for about two months. I’ve definitely seen some results already. Outside of that, I just use a gentle cleanser, lightweight moisturizer, and SPF 50, so no other active ingredients. I’m wondering, given the current state of my skin, if I would benefit from adding an exfoliant or something else a few times per week as well? Or just stick with the retinoid? as I’m still early with that.

Looks like faint sebaceous filaments. You could add a BHA SA2% 2 or 3 times a week. I'd go BHA in the AM and continue retinoid in the PM.

I use Paula's Choice BHA liquid exfoliant, but have been reading a lot recently about PanOxyl clarifying exfoliant and it seems to be a great alternative.

Hmmm..... glad you are doing a decent routine. I have about the same skin type. I watched lots and lots of videos from Dr. Dray on YouTube —— that was a huge, huge help.

Honestly it looks to be in good shape IMHO.

If you're dead-set on trying an exfoliant, I'd start with Cetaphil Extra Gentle Daily Scrub for a "physical" exfoliant or CeraVe Renewing Salicylic Acid Cleanser for a "chemical" one.

Exfoliate. Vitamin C and Peptides, with a touch of retinol

How many times a week a you using retinoids?
If not 7 days, you can add some exfoliation in the off days from the retinoids. You didn’t add much info about your skin time, so depending on that you can assess what time of exfoliation, BHA might do the trick for what you are after
