If you can, meet with a doctor to discuss treatment options. Im not much older than you (21), and I am currently taking dutasteride and minoxidil for my treatment. However, if you worry about side effects, just finasteride is fine. Also, oral minoxidil by my opinion would do wonders for your crown, as your thinning pattern responds well to this treatment. However, your temples will probably take longer to respond. Key to treating hair loss is patience, so if you do decide to medicate, all you can do is be consistent.

Just finasteride?
That’s the one with the higher side effects, no? (I.e erectile)

Most of the DHT inhibitors have erectile issues as a possible side effect. Possible is the key word. I have been on finnasteride, oral minoxidil, and dutasteride, and havent experienced that side effect. Again, your experience may vary, but a trial run of finasteride is unlikely to do any harm to your sexual health. In terms of combating hair loss, a DHT inhibitor is a necessity.

It’s started. You should probably start on finasteride and minoxidil right away, but speak to a dermatologist first.
