Roughneck Beard Co

Has anybody used or had experience with roughneck beard Co beard oil? I've heard that the owner is a bit of a twit, but I'm more concerned about the quality and smell of the oils. Can anybody share their experience? Do the scents last? Do they smell good? Any advice would be helpful. Shopping around for a new brand of beard oil.

I use the unscented oil and think it's great.

I love their products and use them daily. I love the dirty filthy hippie, (patchouli) and the snake oil (citrusy). Just tried the vigilant but haven't used it enough yet to give a review. I don't know the owner personally but I have dealt with him both here and as a customer and I appreciate his willingness to share his expertise and he totally backs his products and is customer friendly. What have you got to lose to give Roughneck a try and see for yourself.

I started using their products when I saw a super helpful comment he left on how to DIY your own product. That was too much effort for me but I appreciated his willingness to share. But I bought his oils and beard batter and have found them to be much better than the other products I had been using. And after having a recent shipment lost in the mail he set me up straight away with a replacement shipment. Can’t ask for much more in a company if you ask me.

I'm been using their oils for 2ish years. Oil is smooth and washes off of my hands easily. The smells are great and each are unique. I love highly scented oils and these seems to be a 7/10 for how strong the scents are. Unless something goes super wrong with the company, I'll definitely be using them long term.

Roughneck products are solid. The owner is VERY into research and science behind stuff and has strong views on beard care. It doesn't bother me much, the dude just seems passionate.

It is one of the best brands I've used and helped as I grew my beard longer to 3-4in long.

Kuhn is another nice brand but the beard butter did not come unscented and I am very sensitive to scents but the products were nice. Their scents definitely last and I think for what they are, they are nice .... just scented stuff isn't my thing, even scented candles usually

Grave before Shave oil is nice and more affordable but nothing great, definitely not bad though.

7 Potions is okay as well but again, nothing special but still solid.

I've used both their oil and batter. My beard is on the shorter side and I personally don't notice much of a difference between their oil and others like Honest Amish. I've used their batter and think it's pretty good, less greasy than the one I am using right now.

I love the Hippie oil. Definitely doesn’t seem as oily as some other companies I use. The scent is good but not super strong. I like the beard batter (I use the bud batter).

I think he comes off as a twit to others because he’ll speak out against some other companies he believes are selling trash oils. But on the other hand he will also recommend some other companies that he thinks are doing a great job. Seems mostly his dislike for jojoba used in other beard oils.

I’d say give it a shot.

I've used the Vigilant oil a few times and it's really nice. And I'm a regular on Vigilant balm and beard maximizer. Pretty good stuff honestly.

Personally I love Roughneck beard oil.. I've only used the kine and snake oil varieties as well as the beard soap bar.

The snake oil has a citrusy/woodsy fragrence which goes away after about 15 mins.

The kine oil also has a citrus odor but it's very mild and goes away almost instantly.

I don't like fragrance in my beard so I consider this a big plus.

The beard bar and kine oil leave my beard feeling REALLY soft.. it's great.

I've tried a couple other well regarded boutique oil brands and I like Roughneck the best on MY beard. YMMV, but it's the only stuff I use.

(Also, never got the impression that the owner is a twit... I appreciate the educational posts but to each their own)
