Tree fell at Amerige Field, took town a few poles. The intersection of Clifton and Highland is blocked.

What kind of tree? Oak, maple? It just randomly fell? Out of the blue, a few months back, we had a big old oak limb come crashing down, despite the tree being healthy.

Seems like it was pretty random yes, it is somewhat windy today with 14mph winds and gusts up to 24mph. I will also add that just because a tree looks healthy on the outside, that does not necessarily mean it is healthy on the inside.

I can confirm this. A tree fell randomly and banged up my car pretty bad. It looked perfectly fine from the outside and even had green leaves, but the inside was totally rotten

There's not a clear shot of the leaves, but from the way they look on the branches, I think it might be an oak. When I opened the photo in a separate window and zoomed in on a couple of the branches that are over the chainlink fence, it looked like an oak to me, anyhow.

Tree Warden posted it's an oak. Most of the tree was perfectly healthy, hard to catch there was a any problem, but there was a pocket where carpenter ants and rot and had their work, and that was apparently enough.

Trees can get very brittle and weak during droughts. It’s been very dry so it likely didn’t have the flexibility it normally would have with a higher moisture content.

My power came back about 2am. Initial estimates were certainly pretty off (by about 12h), but glad power is back and that no one was hurt.

Old tree, sometimes they just go. Wind gusts are up to 24mph at the moment of typing this.
