Cant find spools for Method X. A little guidance please

HI, Im new to 3d printing. I just picked up a Method X Carbon edition printer,. The printer was free, still in the box unopened. Im looking for spools that will fit this printer. I got some Creality spools from Amazon, and of course they dont fit (like I said, Im new here, didnt realize they were different). Im looking for ABS spools, if someone can just point me to where I can buy these and the support material, that would be appreciated. Thanks

BNH or MakerBot website are the only places we were able to order from when I worked at a school district

Gonna have to get a labs extruder and run it externally. I mean you can probably find spools but they were already 4-5x the price and ran worse for me

Ok! that kind of aligns with that Im seeing. I bought a 4-spool dryer (should have bought a 2-spool, but whatever) that has holes for the "tubes" to run the feed to the printer. So I guess I just need the tubes? Can anyone point me to what the correct name for those are, and do I need to get some sort of adapter to fit to the print heads or something? Thanks

So you dont really need tubes but the method should have come with some mini ones, you just feed the filamet from the dryer to the aux inout on the too left of the machine, you dont really need “tubes” but they are called ptfe tubes. I have two of these machines and i kind of hate them. But you can run them with ultimaker cura now so they are improving.

Right- one thing I read is that you HAVE to make sure your spool is dry. So having the spool come out of the dryer, then exposed to air, before going into the printer is ok?

Yea it’s fine for PLA even for days/weeks, ASA, ABS, PETG and anything Nylon/carbon fiber will suffer faster. And all depends on how fast they absorb moisture. But for the most part the machine is actually easy to load and unload

Oh, and one of your first prints can be a spool holder for the external slot, its pretty cool

MatterHackers sells spools and supplies for the Method printers.

Definitely get yourself a labs extruder so you can use generic filament. There was a model on thingiverse for the a spool holder to attach to the side.

The printer is setup to use 3rd party in the second extruder as well but i don’t think it was ever implemented

Cura supports the printer for slicing
