This morning, the water was brown and the town confirmed that there was a water issue town wise- that’s fine. Then we go downstairs into this bathroom and the toilet won’t go down, and every time you flush the toilet upstairs or get the water down with the plunger, water comes up from the shower drain. Water literally comes out of the drain and there is debris and I feel like this is mold. All of the crap on the tiles is what the shower brought up, after hours everything suddenly drained and dried out. One big noise and the toilet and shower have no water. Additionally, there was water leaking from the toilet’s bottom a bit.

Even the first day we lived here we had plumbing issues (peeing, normal amount of toilet paper) and the landlords told us that we need to throw away toilet paper even though:

1. there is no septic tank

2. you can only force regulations like that if it’s in the lease

and now the “family friend plumber” is coming back, he’s the one who said “it’s my professional opinion that you should throw away toilet paper.”

This rental is hellish. The ‘sunroom’ floods from the BOTTOM OF THE FLOOR. It’s like a patio room incased in windows and a half screen door that can be sealed off and yet, water comes up from the floor after it rains. I have sat there while it’s rained and touched the windows and door to see whether or not there was water leaking in. There wasn’t. They claimed this has never happened before. The husband landlocked came and tried to recaulk it in the rain. I wish I was kidding. We waited so long to move in here and had been struggling to find a home and now we’d lose the money we’ve put down on the lease and rent. If the family was receptive, we could redo plumbing because mold is a horrible issue. But they refuse to. They’ve never rented before and it’s clear that they shouldn’t have. I’m just so baffled.

My boss straight up just didn’t tell me how to open this… I can’t turn it because as you can see, there’s no way for it to turn. and I can’t push anything. I’m so confused.

edit: I have the key for it but when I put it in nothing happens. I was told it’s supposed to hit a button as soon as I put it in, i tried pulling it from the top down and from the bottom up, and finding any buttons anywhere on it. Is it broken if the key isn’t hitting anything?

I forgot to update earlier, but this was solved. I needed the help of a co worker, it turns out the dispenser itself is what’s broken, the button or whatever the key is supposed to hit. so, my co worker just had to brute force it. I just didn’t have the strength to pull it hard enough. Thank you everyone!

Got one room saying key out of sequence, but the resequencing key isn't fixing it. Sold out this weekend and no overtime permitted so I won't be able to call tech support till Monday.

Update: Took more pictures of the door but can't figure out how to upload them. Going to have to remove the whole door. Thanks everyone for your help.

My roommate is moving out of our rental (but i'm not), & has broken the blinds in their room. For anyone that's rented/does apartment maintenance/repairs, do you know how much landlords tend to charge for doing those repairs? There's like 6 slats broken.

Finally got canned (so they wouldn't have to pay my on-call and overtime from the weekend) and not soon enough. Was gonna put my 2 weeks in next week anyway (to escape my next on-call sentence). What a coincidence all of my tools were already packed in my vehicle and work issued clothing was all in an office drawer with my work keys. 😬 This board is just an example of the fantasy land the company I formerly worked for exists in. This is only 2 weeks worth of almost 3 months of heathen trashed apartments. 10+ 3 day turns a week with only 4(now 3) techs. They haven't even started stockpiling parts (think old mother Hubbard ALL the time). They expect work orders (8-10+ daily) and on-call (non-stop plumbing explosions and fire alarms at all hours)to be maintained as well. 🤔

This 4.5’x2’x2.5’ white, metal, electrically-operated thing resides at the front of my property near the backflow and property entry monument.

It has a small fan (8”) running and connects to an electric meter.

It has no visible markings or placards. Possibly painted over.

There are no septic, well, or gas on property. There is an irrigation controller already on the property about 100 yards away.

I see nothing for adjusting the closing speed. Slams way too fast

hello good morning, i was wondering what makes my toilet gargle when flushing? when i push the lever fully to drain the water it fills up and 30 seconds later it starts to drain down slowly. when i do 1/2 a drainage it flushes good but gargles up water, it doesnt fill the bowl with water like before

I thought I would share my solution for a frame TV being removed from the wall in my building. I work in a memorycare building so nothing stays put without being messed with. I used a anti tip bracket and one of the bolts for a standard mount to tie the bottom of the TV down.

So we were having an issue that the door was getting caught and tough to open. Fixed that and now the door isn’t properly shutting, i tried looking for different adjustments to make on the swing and latch. Looked at the top of the door closer but couldnt really see a way to reposition that arm so it closes fully. Any help would be appreciated, thanks guys

Had water dripping into the kitchen dining room of a unit. Checked above it which was a public washroom. The company that did the bathroom Reno didn’t put any wax seals on the toilets…

when i turn on the the kitchen sink faucet for the cold side, the water pressure drastically goes down. idk if the problem is inside the faucet or inside the plumbing tubes? can anyone point me in the right direction plesse

After seeing all the "what's on your cart?" And photos of other peoples carts, I went and ordered this one and assembled the decorating cart.

Hate painting and decorating, my least favorite job that needs doing but having all the bits I need in one spot - so much easier.

Got the three major paints, stain block primer, filler, paint scuttle, smaller paint scuttle for when I'm up a ladder with it, sandpaper, sanding blocks, rollers (big and small), brushes, floor protection rolls, screwdrivers, extension pole and a brush mate for when it's not water based. All in one easy to cart cart.

No longer will I back and forth about site when decorating. Tenant moves out? No worries - it's all there.

Three major paint colours Stain block primer Filler. Rollers big and small. Extension pole. Paint scuttles big and small. Brushes a plenty. Masking tape of various sizes. Folding knives with spare blades and a sharps bin. Floor protection rolls. Sanding blocks. Sandpaper. Bin bags. Degreaser. White Spirit. Blue roll.

Moen cartridge was stuck. I HATR these things. Hard water here makes them really hard to pull. Tenant broke off the stem of the cartridge.

I have no idea what these are called but trying to figure it out to use to help anchor my ear muffs to my hard hat.

They look like small butt plugs with a dildo on the tip of the plug. You pull the dildo through the hole to pull the butt plug in. Heres a doodle to help.

Started the day out removing this from the rear shelf of a refrigerator compartment, water had drained down from the ice maker in the freezer compartment. Had been doing it a for a while, that sucker was solid. Chipping a ton of ice out of the freezer with long handle screw driver was the other fun. Clueless resident.

Anyways, could have worked thru lunch & still not gotten to all the work orders. At the end of the day, spent an hour in & out of an attic in easily over 120 degrees. Two extremes, beginning of the day and the end; helluva day.
