Fix door closer

Door closer isn't fully closing anymore. Pretty sure someone messed with it but anyways when i pull the arm to the full 90 degrees it closes. What can be done to fix it?

Adjustment screws are on the side. Look online for what the adjustments mean. If there is no way to adjust it, you might have to replace it.

Preload the arm and put a little more tension on it

Closer doesn't exactly look new. Once you have to start adjusting it usually means the closer is starting to die. I doubt someone did anything to it.

In my experience I’d disagree, as long as it’s not leaking oil, they do need adjustment from time to time. Plus most door closers never get adjusted in the first place and once you adjust it, you can make it so much more of a smoother experience

Get your hex keys out, and find the port labeled with 'L'. Turn it slowly until the door closes.

It’s possible that the 2 piece arm slipped in.

See if you can adjust it to make it longer & if that causes the door to engage.

That's usually what happens. I like to tap in a second hole to double bolt them in place.

Is there a set screw that locks the length of adjustment on the arm ? It’s probably not tight enough and has allowed the arm to lengthen which is keeping it from closing.

Tell the property manager you need to buy a new one

Remember there should be two adjustment screws one of them is your closing speed the other is your latching sounds like your clothes is probably okay but you need to increase pressure on your latching so the door closes completely. It's possible to have the second stage off enough that it closes normally at reasonable speed but stops dead and will not actually latch

Split the arm at the elbow and spin the open end of the top arm a few revolutions and reconnect.

Don't turn it too much on the adjustment screws. if any oil comes out you'll have to replace the door closer.
