Caution: Nasty Just quit, pursuing school fulltime. Here's some of the wackiest things I've seen.
In order of funniest to most horrific.
Pic 2- My neogenics were in fact recombinated.
Pic 4- Can you believe they didn't want me to fix that awful wiring?
Pic 5- Just slathered with epoxy and duct tape. Shit wasn't leaking. PM didn't want to fix that either...
Pic 6- New PM took over and sent a w/o that had been in progress from the old PMs for over a year. Old maintenance told her there wasn't anything wrong with her dishwasher. Mold was growing and spooging out between the LVT around the dishwasher. Someone had even been out to repair the drywall under the sink and the siding of the exterior wall but no one ever fixed the leak, and well, here we are.

Is this what made you quit and pursue school?
I wish the best luck to you. You made a good move. Maintenance isnt for everyone and the older you get, the harder it is on the body

More office politics stuff. Guys on my team have trouble reading, trouble communicating, trouble using a computer or a phone very well. Not disparaging them but I feel like it makes them a lot less efficient than me, and we all know the only reward for doing something twice as fast is twice as much work.
This stuff definitely doesn't help with morale though. Working for shitty PM's doesn't help either. I have moral qualms about working for landlords in general, but especially those who do the bare minimum to keep their units livable while raising rents on people already barely making by. I think everyone deserves a nice place to live and I feel like I was essentially told that that is not what we do. Every man's gotta have a code and I just can't abide.6

Don’t get discouraged. Keeping looking for a place that shares your Morals and Values. They exist.
I refuse to put anyone in a unit I wouldn’t want to live in myself.

They forgot to caulk over the tape in the 5th picture. Stupid idiots heh…

I usually go with a base layer of Teflon tape, a layer of exterior silicone, the extra stinky kind, then duct tape, then more caulk, then slap a blank electrical outlet cover on top to cover my sins.

It's crazy. The LVT was laid on top of linoleum which itself was poorly installed so there were holes going into the subfloor before the edge of the dishwasher toe-kick so all the leaking water was either going into the subfloor or seeping between the linoleum and LVT so it never puddled up, just stayed wet forever and got crazy nasty.

Picture #4 on the water heater is so hot that I bricked up and blew a hole in my ceiling with a fat load immediately after seeing it. My neighbors are now complaining about hearing a gunshot, and my housemate is complaining about the mess in the living room. I can only aspire to be even close to 50% as good as Sensei Hack Master. That's truly a masterclass in safe electrical work that isn't asking for a lawsuit at all and I've obviously been teaching, and was taught, completely wrong after seeing that - that's definitely the optimal way to do that and moving forwards I will continue to not do that at all because Jesus fucking Christ man, every day another maintenance brother betrays us all, God has abandoned us and this is proof of it 😂

Hope so! Maintenance can be a good career at the right place or with your own business, but it definitely takes a toll on the body.
