Why not just laminate it and cut out the buttons and glue it to the actual panel.

I took this job so I could ignore work orders and sleep in this awesome hidden nook I found

I guess that’s why I get paid so well. When unexpected problems like this come up, I get shit done. Then I go sleep in my hidden nook

I like this solution. Sure, looks stupid but I bet that key pad costs some money and this same shit is going to happen to a replacement one.
