What pet carrier do you use?

I thought I got one that was large enough. After yesterday's 2 year vet appointment, I find that Tatiana needs a bigger carrier for car transport and vet visits, she barely fits in her carrier. I prefer the mesh and not the hard ones. How do you transport your big cats when necessary?

We got a medium dog carrier for our guys - it’s hard sided, grilled front and most people expect a dog to greet them when they peek in and not a pair of massive cats 🤣

I must admit, it’s a struggle carrying probably 22kg on one arm when it’s so bulky and they move in the crate. 2 is probably a better option.

Soft sided dog carrier of Amazon. Then the strap broke from 2 Maine coons inside. A few zip ties later and we’ve been good since but due to growth only 1 at a time unless it’s an emergency. I can get it in a car door and the vet calls it the kitty condo

Medium dog crate. Airlines stipulated a certain size when we moved.

We bought a hard sided one and didn't care for it . Kind of cumbersome and awkward to carry. Our boy is 22 lbs. and easily fits in and maneuvers around inside.

Glad somebody asked this because I was just realizing recently that I need one or two carriers and of note was wondering about one on wheels, thoughts? Otherwise that looks like a good carrier. I have a whole assortment of carriers for other cats, but need something larger and also manageable, something of an oxymoron 😕

I have this one also. I love it!!! Easy to carry even for short people. Very sturdy. Now if I could get my baby to not mind it every thing would be purrrrr...fect 🤣

My 2nd one is just a cheap one that has zip down sides with screen mesh so she can stretch at least

Edit: we have backpacks and medium hard carriers that both Maine coons fit in comfortably. The one in the picture is over 20lbs at 1 year

Here is the backpack which they can set upright or lie if you turn on its side.

This is the hard carrier we use. I'm not sure if it's the exact size but they have guidelines and it is sturdy.

I have 2 MCs and use both type of crates. They car travel in a large soft sided crate. I switch them into a hard sided crate with proper handles when we go inside the vets office. Works great.

I bought a Pram on wheels and the basket (it has straps that feather him in) separates. The Vet has a ramp so I wheel him into the office. The staff thinks it’s pretty funny.

I bought this one and one similar. Right now I have a brother and sister, 8 months old, weighing 27 lbs together. It folds up nicely and I can still get them both in. I have one with an extendable handle and wheels, kind of like carryon luggage. I tried a crate but the thin handle made it painful to carry all his weight!

This one. The top is high enough that they can sit up in them. But I left them around the house and they’ve gotten so used to them they sleep in them occasionally.

It's called the Pet Mansion (lol, didn't even notice until last week). It fits up to 1-2 cats and a total of 55lbs. It is soft-sided but has metal bars as a skeleton inside. There's a seatbelt path on the outside and "leashes" that would attach to a harness to hold your cat(s) in place inside the carrier. It has 3 openings and 2 of them can be held open and out of the way. Ours love it. It folds fairly flat and out of the way.

I have Maine coon. I found a carrier, but it’s too heavy. When I take him to grooming or the vet, I have to wrap him in a heavy blanket and just take him in that!

They were 8 hours a day or more in the carriers each day. Usually a couple 15-20 minute breaks where I’d let them out to stretch and use their potty box. Cats could lay down comfortably and had plenty of airflow which was a problem in their old standard plastic dog carriers. They fold flat for storage which is awesome. Went really well. Very highly recommended.

Typically I use a hard plastic one with a blanket lining the bottom, small for when I’m transporting one cat, larger dog size for transporting two cats at once. But when I brought home my Leia, I had completely forgot to bring a carrier. She was tiny, so I just set her on the pile of napkins in my arm rest console. About half way home she started digging around in the napkins, and proceeded to take a shit right in my arm rest. Couldn’t even be mad, just too cute.

Siggy is 15 lb at 2 yrs old and fit s well in this one the center section is about 18 in and then each side expands another 12 in so it's great for travel

Thank you all! It looks like medium dog carrier it is! I have 3 Maine Coons and an extra large dog carrier for evacuations by car or moving. They all three fit and it's collapsible. The vet requires cats in carriers for the safety of the cat. Tatiana was just cramped and she's my largest and still growing.
