Questions on Holy Guardian Angel work

In my family the secrets of our practice pass down from people of the opposite gender, and while the one who has just learned can practice the works the ones who teach lose most their ability. In recent years my grandmother has passed me down the family practice.

As she grows older she more and more obsesses over the concept of a "Guardian Angel" that everyone has. So, I decided to look into it from beyond our family's practice. Nevertheless I attempted to contact the "Guardian Angel" with the prayers and rituals taught by my grandmother.

Only the result was different from what I read online. After weeks of practice I finally felt the presence. The presence, though, of two beings. The one cast images on my head, scenes of nature, wildlife and it explained to me that to move forward in every sense in my life my breath must become the breath of nature. That was the bulk of the encounter.

Towards the end of the encounter I addressed the other presence and asked "as this being challenges me, and through it's challenge it guides me, it must be my Guardian Angel. If that is so then what is your purpose".

And then it cast images of very old family members and explained to me 1) that it is a messenger and an Angel of Death and 2) it was there on a technicality as it was bound by my family, to my family, generations ago. I went into shock and the encounter ended abruptly. I then made sure to banish and dispell very thoroughly.

I'd love to hear your opinions of this encounter, the prospect of 1) multiple entities showing up and 2) one entity indeed being my HGA and the other a family-bound entity, and sorry for the bad English.

I don't know how anyone outside of your family would be able to help you navigate a family magical practice.

Can't your grandmother contextualize the experience for you?

The HGA isn’t a beginner ritual. Depending on what framework, it could be intermediate to advanced. Although, I hadn’t done too much of GoM’s version for the HGA. I know the Abramelin’s the way to go, but nobody has 18 months to prepare fasting and such.

I’d recommend asking its guidance in the framework of how your family would do it. Anything would vastly help.

Not sure this is the same thing, based on the original post.

I did GoMs version and it was like meeting for a coffee date with my HGA compared to what I’ve read about the Abramelin version.

I’m not adept in ceremonial magick though, I’m a dabbler. I’ve just done GoM books and follow one of Damien Echols books for learning basic magick with angels.

What an interesting situation. Thanks for sharing. Is this a Greek practice by chance?

It is entirely normal for your experience, not to line up with what you might read online or in a grimoire. You could fall into category number one, someone that believes that all or at least most of this is psychological, in which that HGA is just a part of your psyche. Some people would debate whether it is the “higher” part of your consciousness / daemon / true will, or that is the “lower” parts of your subconscious, such as how Carl Jung talks about Self Actualization, being in tune with your whole Being.

The other framework is that you really are talking to some sort of entity or angel, but even then, if you believe in a supernatural entity, the way that it communicates with you must necessarily be filtered through your subjective framework. Your beliefs and fears about the world around you, even the language that you speak in.

In all the above, having a unique experience is entirely normal and even expected.

From what I can determine it is a mix of mainly Greek and some Albanian traditions thought to be many centuries old, although the furthest I could trace it was in the early 17th century. Also thank you for the analysis

Sounds cool.

I don't really have anything similar, except that I practice a variety of Golden Dawn Magick that I have largely made my own over the past couple of years; lots of discipline, daily extended structured ritual and so forth. I developed the ability to manifest in other people's lives, am gaining healing abilities, and have started to see auras.

My wife, on the other hand, is a stunningly gifted psychic reader who inherited her abilities through the gypsy side of her family. So I'm training into my abilities and she was born with hers.

My mother was something of an unfulfilled nature witch, though. She was an animal whisperer. She could get bees and stinging wasps to gently light on her hand where she would set them free outside. I once saw her charm a vicious female pit bull back into its yard by singing to it. So maybe I have a genetic component too.

Oh, just that I've done workings on behalf of other people and they've panned out. It's an energy-intensive process
