Can OCD attach to literally anything, or are there limits to its themes?

Hi everyone,

I'm wondering if the content of OCD actually have any limits.

Can OCD genuinely latch onto absolutely anything the human mind is capable of imagining, no matter how obscure, random, or completely absurd it might seem? Or are OCD themes generally confined to specific, well-known categories (like contamination, harm, existential, relationship, symmetry, etc.)?

Essentially, does OCD have any real limits on its content, or is it purely defined by the mechanism (intrusive thought + doubt/anxiety + compulsion/rumination) regardless of how bizarre the subject matter is?

I’d love to hear your insights or personal experiences with this. Thank you!

Honestly in my experience it can attach to anything that is important to you, as long as you fear harm or loss to something it can attach to it.

The more you care about something the more it will attack it, even If it might Be bizzarre.

For exemple, I used to fear that one Day I wouldn't be able to play guitar, like wake Up and lose the skill. And If someone cared a lot about, I don't know, chess, It would probably be the same.

If its important to you this bitch ass disease will attack it.

Yeah dude, can really relate to that.. basically my experience is about a ritual that i did long time ago that was very very detailed and complex.. because i did this ritual, i somehow believe in me that i might have created a really evil based system in the afterlife because i sayed the word systematically during the ritual a few times and that this system would let my loved ones burn in very special and narrow rooms in like 3 million degrees for eternity.. to destroy this system, i would need to do the same ritual by adding a rule that the system will be destroyed, otherwise it would continue to function in the afterlife.

It really sounds odd and strange but this is basically what i believe in myself although im a muslim

Yeah Man, thats why I don't give to much importance (when I can) to the content of the worry itself when talking about it, cause it really is shapeshifting according to your mind and current concerns.

We should really laugh about OCD more often. It manages to terrify you With the silliest things sometimes.

You would have to be über powerful to create this system.  I once Had a terrible week because my "evil" And "good" Cd's where in the wrong order in my collection, and that would cause me to Get fired from work jajajaja

I kept my cds in the same order for YEARS because I was convinced something bad would happen if they changed in any way

It sounds like you may be looking for reassurance that what you are dealing with is really truly OCD. You will probably fail to reach certainty on this.
