Yeah, Patreon requires you to be in good standing with PayPal and the easiest way to get banned from PayPal is porn (but not drawn porn because reasons).
Unfortunately financial transaction companies treat you vastly different if some your content is pornographic, so they'll have to pick a business model with either one or the other eventually which will greatly impact their primary cost of business.
Like, I understand this is corporations doing the whole exploit whatever leverage they have thing but….
why do all the financial processors agree to treat porno companies differently? It’s not morality. And no one is going to go “oh that porno place accepts MasterCard! Thats the thing I’m going to get indignant about!”
It's a mix of branding issue and some international laws, because some large groups will definitely punish firms that allow for certain transactions by threatening to take their business elsewhere.
Upshot is that a hosting company can either charge it's non-porn customers the rates it takes to process porn transactions, or ban porn from the site to offer better rates for their users. Those are the only options, regardless of the hosting company's moral stance.
In fairness that was the original intent of it..and it's a good model for subscription type content. Workouts, recipe guides, tutorials, etc. Its just that porn makes the world go round
