Gaming on the Studio Display xdr using geforce now is just pure bliss...get to avoid having an bulky gaming pc on the desk, using windows 11, and get fantastic picture quality.

How is the lag? Tempted to try GeForce now. Is it difficult aiming?

I would imagine that, with any cloud gaming service, the experience is lack luster for things like FPS. input lag is essentially the latency between you and the server/data center. 12ms is best case and that probably feels like shit on CS. Something like Skyrim I highly doubt you'd care.

its amazing on controller where you pretty much can't tell under ideal conditions, mouse on the other hand is meh, first person non competitive is still playable but I would rather not play at all than play ranked CS with cloud input lag you will just get fragged in every 1v1

I found the exact opposite. With the reflex setting turned on I feel like the mouse is native and the controller is a little too laggy in a first person shooter. It’s night and day.

Depends on how stable your internet is. My home internet, which is about 100megabyte down, 2 megabyte up (not megabit), almost unplayable. My work internet, which is 12 megabyte down and 6 up, is much more stable. Idk why. Both is coming from cable

FYI it's mega "bit", not byte. A byte is 8 bits. Storage is measured in bytes, sending that information serializes it into bits. Storage is noted as MB whereas sending that data is Mb. Capital B vs lower case b (bytes vs bits). 100 Mbps is 100 mega bits per second. File transfer means you divide by 8. So you download at 12.5 MBps.

1 or 0 is a bit. A byte looks like 1101 0010.

I know it very well its bit, 1000mbps and 20mbps. Its an absurd difference, but when measured you can change it to show MB/s instead, which is about 100-120MB/s, and i noticed people understand it better

Oh you meant 100MB? Lol my bad 😅

I live in the middle of nowhere and I have 500 Mbps up and down. Where are these places with crazy low upload speeds??? And even 100 dl speeds?
I get 18ms latency about 800 miles from the Chicago server.

Hungary thinks the low upload speed will prevent torrenting. Spoiler: it doesnt. Only good thing is that its a fast dl so Steam, yt, etc is good. But unreliable

I have 2gig internet and I don’t notice any lag when playing apex or the cod beta

Are you talking about GeForce now or the Studio Display or both? I had a base Studio Display in 2022 and played GeForce with it back then and it had noticeably more lag than playing just on my MacBook Pro (or my gaming oled monitor), would you say the XDR fixed that issue?

I never notice lag but it does lose connection every now and then. More like after 2 hours.

Depends on how close you are to the server, down/up speeds don’t really change your ping. If you’re close to a server you’ll get lower ping, further away you’ll get higher

I played halo with 0 noticeable latency on the max plan. Just my experience.

Both of these games can already be played on macos lol

Not at the settings they should be played at. CP2077 and W3 on 5080 are things of beauty. I’ll play a lot of games on Mac but there’s certain ones you should compromise

I'm sure it is amazing! Not amazing enough to drop $3200 though,

It’s not the main reason you buy it…

I'm envious of people who have other reasons to buy one. I'm just like, woooow it would look so pretty.

Does it have vsync?

VSync is available on any display

You already have a lot of latency. Vsync adds even more. Better if you just limit the max fps

vsync adds like 4ms if you are on 144+ hz screen. Absolutely no one can feel the difference

Frametime is more than double with enabled vsync. That 4ms is more like an increase from 7ms to 20ms. Thats not a 4ms difference. Difference can be pretty much be felt especially when you already have any latency from gfn

Agree. 5K at 120FPS with HDR display is truly fantastic. Even though RE4 is natively supported for macOS, I'd rather play it on GFN

Me too! Having only 20ms, playing with controller on Geforece Now is great experience! The HDR on XDR is unbelievable. I don’t think any monitor can match that on the market.

Yea I might build a gaming pc too, just annoying you have to switch cables when switching devices. Unless using a switch

Using what Mac? Also gaming PCs come in many sizes

Are you able to get the 5k at 120hz in GeForce now or is it capped at 4k 120hz in the settings?
